CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Fusion builds off the 2010's reputation. That's not a good thing.

The first thing that jumps out is the ridiculous amount of power steering complaints. It grinds, it squeals, and it eventually just fails.

And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

While taking a freeway exit ramp, an alert popped up on my dashboard and my steering immediately became labored. I wasn't doing anything unusual at the time, so my immediate assumption was that I had a flat tire. I began to slow as I neared the exit ramp, and at this point my dashboard showed a "power steering assist fault" error and a "service advancetrac" error message, which resulted in the loss of all power steering. At this point I pulled off the highway and into a parking lot, shut off my car, and let it rest for approximately 15 minutes while I read the Ford owner guide for more information. After inspecting the engine and finding nothing unusual, I started the car and the power steering had returned. I have not experienced this issue again and it has been 24 hours, but I'm still weary of traveling at higher speeds lest my power steering suddenly fail again.

This car was purchased on June 27,2011. On December 3, the on board navigation system was used for the first time. If I was aware of the road interstate 84 that I was traveling, if I had not know interstate 84 the on board system would have had me make a turn where there was none. After a return to the dealer, a call to Ford and a call to the manufacture of the system that Ford is installing all three insist it is up to date. This defect is going to lead to fatality if someone does follow the on board navigation system. The system also could not find the address of my destination. I checked with the establishment that I was going to and they said that their address was changed five years ago. There I believe that the system that Ford is selling is many years out of date.
