CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

While driving my car any where city street or the highway, it will stall out or cut off with out any warning at all. It has happen ten times in the last two months. All most was rear ended because of this problem three time close calls. Have taking car and had it plug in for electronic check but no code shows up. This problem needs to be addressed I have read on line of a lot of other Ford Fusion owners having the same complaint. This very dangerous problem and should be addressed. Ford dealers just want to though parts at this problem but they will not or can not tell me what the real calls of this dangerous problem is. I sure hope with your help all the Ford Fusion owners can get this resolved before some one get killed.

Failure of inside door handle to facilitate opening of door will prohibit timely egress of vehicle in the event of an emergency. Both the driver's and rear passenger's inside door handles have broken, resulting in the inability to open the doors from the inside. These failures occurred during normal use after parking the vehicle. The doors opened less than an inch out of the locked position at the times of failure. Due to the bench seat not prohibiting egress out the other rear door, this complaint was not issued during the rear passenger door failure. The driver's door handle has just broken.

The driver side door latch and lock are broke. You cannot open the car door from the inside, you can only open it by rolling down the windows. Sometimes it wont shut properly and sometimes it is also a struggle to open it from the outside (as if that option of opening it might be gone soon). The first occurence happened while I was in a stationary position.

The inside drivers side door latch did not lock when the vehicle was in motion (the other three door latches did). I was driving approximately 12 mph on a residential street. The door latch remains in the extended open position. The door can only be opened from the outside to exit or enter the vehicle. The door can not be locked manually or using the key fob. I am unable to exit the vehicle normally. To exit I have to roll down the window, open the door from the outside, then in order to roll the window up again I have to get in through another door, insert the key and reach over to the drivers side. These are safety issues.

When I turned on the fan to circulate heat or cool air nothing happened. The blower motor for the ac and heating has failed 3 times in the last 4 years; 12/13/2013, 6/24/2015, and 5/26/2016. The last time the Ford dealer had to replace the entire wiring harness as well. The last repair cost $730. Angela keevis, Ford Motor Company customer service manager, told me there was nothing they could do for me since I had already paid for the repair. My son needed the car for his high school senior prom so I needed to pay the bill asap.

The car was parked on ignition on. My mother, alice, went out in the evening to close the sunroof. The sunroof did not look like it was closing, so my mother reached up her hand to feel. Her fingers were then closed and locked into the sunroof. The open button would not work to release her hand. Neighbors came to help, turned of the car and turned it back on again to try and open the roof, but it would not open to release her fingers. Crowbars were used to try and release the frame from her hand, but it would not budge. Police had to break the glass of the sunroof to release the frame from her hand. This is a huge safety concern. If a child's hand would have been caught it would have been crushed. They need to have an emergency senser to never close and lock in place if there is an obstruction, or an emergency release. Now, my mother has to face medical and insurance costs. I type this in her presence on her behalf, due to her right fingers being injured. With the grace of god, no bones were broken. Anyone can relate to how painful and traumatizing it was for her to have her hand clamped and locked in place with no release.

I have been having issues with the throttle body. Yesterday, when pulling out onto the highway, my throttle body light came on and my car would not pick up speed. I was almost rear ended. I was pressing the gas, but it would not pick up at all. I have a 4 year-old daughter. This is very dangerous. I don't want to be driving and have to worry about if my car is going to stall as I enter traffic. The throttle body should be recalled!

The driver door handle locks the minute you close the door, and both the driver and passanger side handles broke at the same time.Ford wants to charge me over $440 to fix them. This is an item that should be fixed through our warranties they cost an arm and a leg. Their service mananger larry tate acted like he did not care when I talked to him about the situation. This has also happened to another Ford Fusion that my mother-N-law drives.

Driver side interior door opener broke. To me this could be quite serious what if I'm in a crash and car caught fire with door not opening properly I could burn to a crispy crunch.in a situation like that it would be good to be able to get at as soon as possible don't ya think?

Driving at 60 mph I could hear friction worsens and car would lose momentum easily because of the friction. Then I start to hear a knocking sound somewhere in the engine perhaps or the wheel unsure and as all that worsens, I can feel the car losing control like it's gotten a flat tire. Power steering got stiffer while the car kind of drifted left and then right as tho I was going to lose control of the vehicle. It was really scary so I immediately slowed down because I had no control on the steering.

While driving at 45-50mph the engine lost all power and the wrench light came on. I pulled over and the car started to skip and turned off. I sat a few minutes and cranked the car again. The light was off and the car went with no problem.I took it to a shop to see if any codes would show in the computer. Nothing showed. The following day I was driving at 60mph and it did the exact same thing. I took it back to the shop a code P2111 "throttle actuator control system stuck open" showed. On the way home, driving at 50mph it did the exact same thing again.

At first the RPM's would increase ( around 500 RPM's) when the car upshifted when it was cold. As the motor and transmission warmed up the increase in RPM's upon upshift lessened. It appeared to me that the transmission was "slipping" as it went through the gears...you could hear the engine speed up and watch the tach to confirm what I was hearing from the engine. I took car to dealer and they checked it out. They said everything was functioning normally however the car still does it. Note that the car was under the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty at the time and the service advisor said that the car has a 60K powertrain warranty anyway. I did not like his statement. The problem seems to be getting worse as it sometimes revs between shifts when it is warmed up. Ford should step up and review my problem further. I plan to take the car to another Ford dealer to see what they say. Please advise.
