Starter completely fails. There is NO warning, such as the car running rough. NO check engine light will come on. I simply pulled my perfectly-running car in to get gas and when trying to leave, it would not start. I had to have it towed from there. If this happens to you, you will think it's a dead battery - because that's how the car reacts. I'm the original owner and have babied this car. I've been meticulous with scheduled maintenance at the dealership. The Starter is the first problem it's ever had. The part is about $350 and requires 2 hours labor, for a total of about $550. You don't need a full diagnosis to figure out the problem - which usually runs from $70-$100 to run every code. You only need the electrical test, which is about $25. The worst part about this, is there's no warning. You will be completely stranded without any notice whatsoever.

It's so frustrating to get in the car and it does not want to start. It makes a noise so we check the alternator thinking it was going and it was fine. We check the battery and the connections and they are fine. I even took it to a Honda dealer to have the key changed thinking it might be the key and asked what else could be the issue and they couldn't give me an answer. I refuse to take the car back to the dealership they lied about prices, replace things other than what I told them and they were real pushy. The starter issue has been going on for not quite a year and sometimes I am lucky and it will start right up but it a fight most of the time. We even put WD 40 in the key ignition and that was no good. If anyone can give me some help it would be appreciated.

I've been having problems starting my car. I took it to Advanced Auto Parts they tested the battery - said it's right up there 500+ amps. I bought the battery two years ago (Duracell 51R) and it's still under warranty.

I took the vehicle to my mechanic (very reputable) and asked they look at why this was happening....(while they were replacing my brakes/rotors for second time since ownership). He stated the problem wasn't occurring while he had it. I waited but the problem still remains.

I returned to the mechanic - he placed the battery on a charger for a time. He looked into the alternator and starter and stated it was neither of them and it was def. the battery. I go back to the place I bought the battery, they did two tests, the quick one with a handheld and then removed it for a 'stress test'....it's not the battery. They believe it could be electrical.

I did notice awhile back that my blinkers weren't working for a couple of days but then they came back to function.

I'm at a loss...back to the mechanics
