Was driving with my family to Pennsylvania.got stuck out there as the car make a valve tapping noise that got louder and louder. soon, car stopped running, lost compression, and shut off. Extra hotel stay, tow truck to the Dealership. they say the spark plug #4 was blown out. Needs new plug, re-thread the opening that holds the plug. $500. hopefully no other damage was done to the valves or piston. cant imagine that anything else may been so damaged. so after a couple of one way rentals, i will get my car back. I don't understand how this can happen with a Honda and only 32k miles??!?!?

Update from Sep 13, 2015: Update is that, ended up, the piece of the spark plug that fell into chamber #4, has bent my valves. So now have to have one of the heads rebuilt. My initial $500 plus now the rebuild of the head $2,200.

Update from Sep 24, 2015: So after taking it to Honda, and now a local shop. Verified..Cylinder wall is destroyed. Engine swap is needed. $4,000 more. This is so insane. such a young Honda, and i have to replace the Motor.

Accord EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

I was driving my car home on Saturday evening. When I turned into my complex car in motion, it died. No warning. EVERYTHING SHUTDOWN. I thank God I wasn't on a main road or freeway. I put the car in parked and it started back up with NO problem. When I made it home, I researched my issue online searching for a recall. I found one that described my issue. HOWEVER, the dealership and Honda advised me this morning that they are aware of the recall and my car was exhibiting the same symptoms. HOWEVER, my car was not included in the recall because it was manufactured at a different factory. But if the results show my car is affected I need to call Honda Corp and let them know.

You would think they would be proactive instead of reactive. Now in order for them to fix my car I have to pay $105 for Honda to run a diagnostic on it to tell me what’s wrong with it. REALLY! Why should I have to pay for that? I think that is unfair to my son’s safety and me. You would think they would run a diagnostic free. I am SOO afraid to drive my car. Anyone out there have any suggestions? I may just have to bite the bullet and pay the money. :(
