Accord Touring 1.5L

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Driving at 45mph car suddenly broadcasts a warning in orange that flashes brake. Buzzer goes off at the same time and scares the crap out of the driver (this is hazardous) Car hits brakes hard, then releases, lights go off and everything is fine. Of course I just crapped my pants! This has happened 3 times most recent 8/21/2019. Dealer said it was a manhole cover, a steel plate in the road or a bug crashed against the sensor.....ALL FAIL. I am the only vehicle on a seven lane blvd. I have turned around and driven over the same spot and nothing happens. This is a safety item that can't be turned off. I bought the car because of safety features such as this. The salesman encouraged the technology and told me how good it was.

Bottom line, they don't know what's wrong or why it's doing it then try explaining it away and trying to "educate" me on the technology. I'm retired from IT I embrace technology and I know this just isn't right.

Update from Mar 21, 2023: I fixed all my complaints at the Toyota dealership May of 2021 Good Bye troublesome Honda Accord Touring, Hello Toyota Avalon Limited.

I have found this complaint from others as well. When sitting at a stop light with all cars around the vehicle also stopped, the "Approaching Object" warning comes on. This makes you start looking for a possible collision, but there is no movement around the car. I've only had the car a few months and this happened only a few times so far, but worth reporting.

Update from Sep 18, 2022: 3 yrs later tand nothing has changed with this problem. I suspect the sensors detect exhaust from surrounding vehicles since the alert switches from one side the the other while sitting at a light. I have to keep pressing the "dismiss" button to stop the warning but until I continue to drive, it just keeps up.

Update from Apr 18, 2023: Still going on after almost 5 years, along with False TPMS and BRAKE warnings. All of these are dangerous to the driver. What's wrong with Honda?
