The contact owns a 1999 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that when the key was inserted into the ignition, the ignition switch seized in the accessory position. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled on various occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.
1999 Honda CR-V. consumer states vehicle exhibiting behavior outlined in recall bulletin 02-231, stalling without warning. The consumer stated it appeared the recall was performed in 2002, but, there were several questions involved. He stated the repair order did not specifically say the ignition switch was installed. The process may have been started, but the parts may have been on hold. Second, the service bulletin called in step 9 for a center punch completion mark above the eighth character of the engine compartments VIN. No such mark existed on his vehicle. Third, other service work was done on the same day as the recall, and would appear to leave too little time to complete the recall work the same day. And if the switch was replaced, it would appear that the replacement has the same defect. The consumer took the vehicle to a repair shop and it appeared the replacement switch had also failed as the original recall problem, which was due to burnt contacts in the switch from arcing. The engine of my Honda CRV-V stalls without warning. On several occasions it has stalled while driving on a highway at 60 mph. Lehigh valley Honda in allentown pa is suggesting that the ignition switch cylinder is the problem. The ignition switch itself was replaced in 2002 (NHTSA campaign id number : 02V120000).
Consumer states that the dealer wants to charge them to reconnect the alarm system to perform the recall on the vehicle. Please provide the dealer name address and number. Recall#02120000 igntion switch. Honda 574-256-3800.
Consumer states that they have the same defect with their ignition switch as stated in recall #02 V 120 000. Recall does not apply to their vehcicle by VIN number.

Consumer received recall notice 02V12 in the mail regarding the ignition switch. Consumer learned there were stipulations to the recall. Consumer received a remote starter as a gift but was installed at a different facility. Consumer was told the dealership would only repair the ignition switch and would have to deactivate the remote starter. The dealership however will not reactivate the remote starter and consumer would have to take the vehicle to another facility and have them reactivate the starter at consumers expense.
