This ignition is a faulty part in my 2006 Honda CR-V with only 65,000 miles on it. The ignition problems began recently with the ignition not accepting the key; however, with some picking into the ignition with a wire the key would sometimes slide in and then not come out. We took the car to the dealer and the cost to replace this ignition will cost over $850.00!! I didn't get this fixed yet and I'm driving around with the key permanently in the ignition, so when I leave the vehicle I lock the doors with the extra key. This is a very expensive repair and I'm currently looking at buying the ignition then finding a local repair person to install it. Apparently, this is a common fault with the Honda line of cars and it doesn't fall under the recall of their electrical problems with ignition switches. I wish Honda would at least offer the part to the dealers for this repair. I understand that the dealers make most of their profit from repair work such as this and the dealer I went to really gave the push for me to let them order the part, pay for it, and come back for the install, and it would only be $100.00 more than the $850 to have the original key coded or else at the lesser cost I would have to have two keys.
