I bought this Honda in 2017, 6 months ago, I traded my 2007 CR-V in because of the Air Bag recall. My friend who drives my car most of the time when we go places, has been telling me about this problem since I bought the Honda. When stepping on the accelerator to pull into traffic it hesitate to respond for a few seconds. He drove it today and when it happen again he said to check to see if there was a recall about this before I 'm involved in an accident. My friend who before retiring was a Mechanic, thinks this might be Transmission convertor problem, but a real accident waiting for a place to happen.

I purchased this Honda in March of 2012 and I can't name any specific dates, but on several occasions it has hesitated when I step on the gas pedal, especially when I am making a turn. This is dangerous because another car could run into you while yours is still thinking about going.

CR-V EX 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

Intermittent hesitant acceleration from a stop or from slowing down to increasing speed. After about a week after purchasing it new, it had this problem where it would take a second or two to accelerate and then would lurch forward, which is dangerous. Also, the hesitation would mean that if I needed immediate acceleration to get into traffic, such a delay could be dangerous as well. It could be the electronic accelerator or the electronic transmisison or both. All dealers state they've never heard of the problem, even though I tell them about it every few months when I get regular service.

I haven't had the time to report it to the national Honda "hotline" but will start doing so, as well as reporting it all over the Internet. I don't know if it is a problem with the new electronic technology causing a delay or a lemon just with a few of our vehicles, but I have seen it from others owning a 2012 Honda CR-V. Keep on Honda everyone!! - Mike in Los Angeles.

I had this problem several times while I was driving this car on my vacation, but I have not had it to the shop yet. My wife drives the car 99 percent of the time, but when I take the car in for service I will make my complaint to the dealer. Will keep everyone updated. It just seems that when you press on the gas there is no acceleration, but after you keep pushing the pedal it finally gains momentum. Not good.

CR-V EX-L 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,500 miles

When pulling onto the freeway there was a sudden loss of power for 3 to 4 seconds, fortunately there was a break in the traffic and once I had power again I could accelerate before the other cars caught up to me. This is a serious problem and Honda motor company needs to look into this.

CR-V EX 4 cyl

At low speeds when braking then trying to accelerate, no response for 1-2 seconds then rapidly accelerates;

similar to the other 3 complaints on this site. Three Honda shops had no idea and no suggestion. The fourth one explained that it probably was caused by the Brake Override System introduced in the 2010 models. I notice they had a sudden acceleration problem in the 2011 models so I assume this was an overcorrection that resulted in the opposite effect. It has occured on several occasions and is very irritating and dangerous. You must call Honda at 800-999-1009

to register the complaint or they don't about it.

Bought this car new, and happy with everything except when I step on the gas and nothing happens. The engine does not rev and there is a 2-3 second hesitation before the car accelerates. This does not happen every time, but when it does it's usually at lower speeds. Definitely is a serious safety issue. Took it to the dealer, but they couldn't duplicate the condition or find anything wrong. They said they have notified Honda national of the problem. Honda definitely need to correct this problem before there are accidents and lawsuits.

I love this Honda CRV but sometimes when you push the accelerator the car stalls. If you keep pushing the pedal it finally goes. This could be a real safety problem. We took it to a Honda dealer in Parkr/Denver Co while on vacation. They did some type of software update, but it did not fix the problem. It still does this! You just never know when. Someone told me that it might be the throttle position sensor. We are going back to the Honda dealer in Macn GA next week while the car is still under warranty!

Just bought this car. It definitely has pedal / acceleration issue. Several times, I came to slow down before entering freeway or round about or switch lane. When it's time for me to go, push on the pedal, the car not respond or accelerate, push the pedal again and harder, still not accelerate, that became very dangerous as my car still slowly gliding and other cars coming down the freeway or round about fast. It takes 3 to 4 attempts to push on the pedal hard to get my car suddenly accelerate. I read about that at Edmund.com and felt that problem during test drive, but didn't realized it can be that scary and dangerous especially other cars flying down the freeway but my acceleration not respond to my pedal. I have driven several used cars in the last 25 years, never had this problem. This is brand new car, not sure if I like it. Would like to hear if other CRV owners have the same encounter.
