The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic ex. While driving approximately 45 mph he heard a loud popping noise, and then the front driver seat belt retractor system failed. Next the "air bag" warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. After turning off the engine the front driver side air bag deployed without warrant. However he noticed that the "side air bag turn off" warning light intermittently illuminated on the instrument control panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician was unable to determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was inoperable and has not been repaired for the malfunction. The failure and current mileages were 66,000.
