I purchased my first set of tires on 01/13/2010 with 35323 miles on it. Figured that was ok considering they were (softer) performance tires. I had my car into Honda for regular scheduled maintenance (fluid check/brake check/tire rotation, etc). Shortly afterward I was hearing a humming noise while driving, seemingly getting louder and louder. I took it back into Honda and had the technician drive it with me. He couldn't hear anything. (that's funny, cuz I could)! They "re" rotated the tires, if you will, and sent me on my merry way. I still heard the humming, just a little quieter. Again, I take it to Honda for my regular scheduled maintenance (the day after St Patty's Day, cuz I think everyone was hungover). I left without the usual consult being offered. When I got home I as looking over the mechanics "check list" and noticed I was in URGENT status to replace back tires (especially the right). This was only 19,000 miles after I bought the new tires!!!!

I was furious...wrote a letter to Honda. They called me and their attempt to "fix" it was to give me a free wheel alignment on 04/01/2011, then I was off to buy two more new tires!!!

I am now hearing the humming noise again, so I looked at the rear tires and sure enough the back right tire is wearing quickly again at another 19,000 miles! Grrrrrrr!

There is definitely something wrong with the suspension (or something) on this car! So frustrating. Tires for this car are NOT CHEAP!

This was to help the problem with wearing out the tires. But 2 rear tires were replaced at 24,013 miles and 2 front tires at 24,742 miles. Then the driver rear needed replacement At 40,363 and 2 front and the passenger rear at 65,244. I am at 86,000+ miles and need to replace all tires again so I can cut down the noisy ride (that still exists even with new tires).

Honda knows there is a problem. The tech told me so this morning and said that they had a report about the problem from Honda. If the company had to redo a part to correct it, why are they not doing a recall and fixing the problem?

Bought the car used (kicking myself for not noticing the problem before buying), went through a couple sets of rear tires so far, had the $600 rear upper control fix completed and the problem is still there. It still does the same thing. It still shreds the tires and the ass end of the car bounces all over the road.

Other problems with this car: defective catalytic converter, bad air conditioner compressor, the visor broke, the inner wheel well covers are inexplicably shrinking. They're too small now and they don't fit any more.

This is my wife's car. I drive a 95 Civic with about a trillion miles on it- which is why we bought this one. Honda's ain't what they used to be. I won't be buying another one.

Honda Civic 2007 si model, started having problems shortly after purchasing brand new right now I'm on the 4th set of tires on the rear of this car and only have 60,000 miles on it. Honda says the rear is within specs, another shop says the rear control arms need to be replaced and honda won't cover it. This is my 4th car I have purchased and paid for in full from this dealership. I can say I am totally disgusted and disappointed in this dealership and Honda! Want to know all Civil lawsuits I can sign up for, or any help available for this matter! I'm not a wealthy person, just an average single mom trying to raise 3 kids and get to work in a reliable car, without going broke replacing tires!

Very loud ride. Took it to Honda (after several mechanics) to get an oil change and asked to "check" out why my car is so loud. Previous mechanics had stated that my tires are wearing in the rear prematurely due to some underlying issue that they couldn't figure out. Ok. Took it to Crown Honda and they said I needed to replace the Rear Upper Control Arm, and then replace all my tires. $1952. Yeah Ok. This car has been a complete lemon. I waited roughly 2 years to get this body style Civic Coupe EX in black and this is what I get? A POS! Thank you very much Honda. This is my third Honda, 2nd Civic and this is how you do me! Never again. And Now Im trying to trade in the POS and they're giving me significantly much lower than what I owe! ! what happened to GREAT resale value?? Not.

Consistent with the technical service bulletin, I've had uneven tire wear on the car since day one. I bought this vehicle used and am going through my 3rd set of tires in about 50k miles. Unfortunately I kept attributing this problem to not rotating/aligning often enough on these rough roads, and it wasn't until after my warranty expired that I discovered there was an actual TSB out for this DEFECT. (Not) Surprisingly, the dealerships say because it is a TSB and not a recall, I'll have to foot the bill for what is clearly outlined on paper as MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. Honda is attempting to save money by making us pay to fix their mistakes, and I really don't think that's fair at all. Since I've owned this car, I've had to replace 2 shorted out fuse boxes, a motor mount, a rear brake light assembly, the visors EVERY YEAR, my heater core is going out, and now this. A little more research on the 8th gen civic forums reveals my next issue will most likely be the notorious cracked engine block problem, and given the way things are going, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before my car is affected. I bought this car for Honda Reliability but what I've ended up with is a Honda Headache. I've called Honda America Customer Service and basically begged for help replacing the defective parts, and a case worker is supposed to call me back. The car is paid for, but I'm not sure it's worth keeping at this rate. If Honda doesn't help me out here, I will have paid more in the last 3 months in repairs than I paid in an entire year making car payments! So what lesson did I learn from this? Never buy a new Honda again. People ask me regularly "What do you think of those cars?" At first I used to say "Well the transmission's a little sluggish, but it's the coolest car I've ever owned!" Now, without thinking I say "Biggest piece of junk I've ever driven." I think the gas mileage is so good on these cars because they are fueled by the bitter resentment of the person behind the wheel.

In September, 2011 I took my Honda to have the rear tires checked because they were making a loud noise, I thought they might be separating. I was told they were worn unevenly and it was strongly suggested I go to the Honda Dealership to have them inspect my car. The dealership checked out the tires, etc. Service manager told me the rear tires were worn badly and suggested I purchase 2 new ones. I was upset because it had only been about 6 months or so that I had put new tires on my car. He told me that I would need to have the rear upper control arms replaced too or the problem would continue. He told me that this has been a problem with Honda Civics and that Honda was well aware of it. I asked if these were covered under a recall or warranty and he told me "No, Honda doesn't feel it's a big enough problem to warrant a recall or include under a warranty". I was told that there have been numerous complaints for the same problems with other Honda owners but Honda was not doing anything to help car owners out. They did remanufacture the rear upper control arms and suggests old ones be replaced with updated parts. No letters or recalls to their car owners were sent out to alert us of the problems, this upsets me. I do not make a lot of money so I can't afford to just throw away money on new tires every few months because Honda "doesn't think it's a big enough problem to fix". I think Honda should be responsible for the repair costs to replace with updated parts and the purchasing of 2 new tires!!! I faxed a letter to American Honda and have been playing phone tag for the past 2 weeks with my case manager. I finally spoke to her this morning, not much help. Said she needs to verify information with the local dealership and get back with me. She said that my car is out of warranty (of course). She then asked what I expected American Honda to do. I told her that I expected Honda to pay for the repairs to my vehicle and for new tires, since it's because of their defective part that I am having to deal with this. She said she would have to verify information, gather more information and then call me back before commenting on what Honda "may" be able to do. It's now been almost 6 hours later and I have had no return call. This is irritating!!! And then I found this website and see that I am not the only Civic owner dealing with this. It is ridiculous!!!!!

i have purchased a new set of tires every year! no solution. I currently have roughly 58,000 miles on my 2007 Honda Civic Si. I just installed the fifth set of tires. The last set of tires lasted a little less than 11,000 miles and cost $420 a set! The original stock set of michelin tires lasted about 16,000 and cost about $800 a set. I have installed a new set of tires every year since of purchased this vehivle in January 2008.

I replaced the original 2007 tires at 41,887 miles in 2009 with premature wear. Eighteen months later, I had terrible road noise. I thought it was the bearings. It turns out that despite an alignment and proper rotation, my tires were all cupped in less than 26,000 miles. The mechanic mentioned the problem Honda had with the rear upper control arms in this vehicle. I just spent another $218 to get updated rear upper controls arms on top of $800 for new tires and another alignment. Honda, I have been a loyal customer. You owe me for your poor quality control and not alerting me that this was a problem.

We took my wife's '07 Civic Coupe to dinner the other night and we could not hear ourselves talk over the tire noise. She loves her car and normally has the 300 w sound system cranked to hide any unwanted noise. I found Honda Service Bulletin #08-001 and discovered that her tires were worn just like the picture in the TSB. She does not want to trade the car so I hope Honda takes care of the problem. It is clearly a design flaw.

I have a 2007 Honda Civic with the same tire wear issue due to the upper/lower manufacture camber and control arm problems. I am on my 3rd set of tires, the last set were rated at 40,000 miles and I only got 20,000 out of them and were so worn out I could hardly believe it! The tire shop recommended adding the kit that honda recommends but after reading everybody else's results after they had repairs done I'd hate to put any more money into my car. I have already spent over $1200.00 on tires and alignment for all four wheels. The tire shop keeps telling me that I must be running over curbs or road ruts because the car keeps needing tires and wheel realignments so often....I keep telling them I didn't run over any damn curbs. I hope Honda has the courtesy to at least help with expenses to fix the problem.

Rear tires make a humming noise at 35mph or faster. Car goes through set of tires in less than 20k miles. Honda maintenance told me that because I use my own mechanic for oil changes and "don't support Honda dealers" I would have to pay for the fix (out of warranty), they won't do a goodwill repair. I told them that I supported them when I bought the car from them and they say that because I'm the second owner (got it with 20k miles) they wouldn't do a goodwill repair because I "didn't make any money to Honda by buying a used car".

New tires cost me $621 6k miles ago and they're showing wear signs already.

I thought I had lost a wheel bearing, as the screaming from the rear was so bad that I could not hear the radio. Took it to a repair shop, and because the entire wheel/brake/etc. system had to be tore down. They suggested I take it to a tire shop to see if the belts in the tire had broken down. And, guess what??? The tire shop told me that the noise was due to rear tire wear. They were not unsafe, just incredibly annoying!!!! Did I mention the car only had 30,000 miles when I noticed the noise?

Tires wore unevenly on the insides of the rear tires because of incorrect camber alignment. After 19k miles had to replace them since the interior of the rear tires had 2/32 tread depth even though the rest of the tires still had 5/32 tread depth left. Spent $460 on new tires. Found a Honda Service Bulletin 08-001 on the internet saying that this was a manufacturer defect due to the rear wheel arms that came on my make/model/year vehicle being too short and causing incorrect camber. Honda gave me a 15% discount, but would not cover the replacement of the wheel arms even though it's a manufacturer defect because they said it needed to be covered by a warranty and it wasn't. This is a safety concern. Consumers should not have to pay $1000 for this fix and it should be a recall.
