Civic LX 1.8L

  • CVT transmission
  • 109,968 miles

At 109968 miles the CVT failed. Cost to replace with remanufactured 7k, Used with warranty replacement 4k. This was a certified preowned vehicle with maintenance all done through Honda dealerships specifically Gillman Honda out of the San Antonio, TX area and Luther Honda of Waite Park, MN. I understand that things break but this does seem to be a common occurrence for this year make and model. Insult to injury, it is right outside of the 100k warranty.

1st of all I bought a CRV from Rick Woodson Honda..it was burning oil. They wouldn't acknowledge so stupid me traded on a New 2015 Honda civic. Of course they didn't give me payoff. I had to finance extra. Plus I bought extended warranty never used and polysteel never used! After all was financed $18000 car became over $26000.! I recently let my 21 year old son use my car to go to a church event he was helping with in Jacksonville fla. Thinking it was reliable. The car stopped suddenly on the way back with him on a very busy highway!! No check engine light nothing. Just reved up and think was like it was in neutral. I drove almost 2 hours Wed July 17th to pick him up. ( Got dark ,was 90 degrees, no food or water, was very dangerous cutting off on busy intersection) Left car 2 hours away on side of road until I could go get on Friday. My towing on insurance wanted 5mi after certain distance which made it outrageous! So I paid to have it towed to Honda dealer in Roanoke Va. Took them until July 24th to tell me the transmission was bad. They gave me $5600 estimate...so of course I begged and pleaded since they recalled some other 2014 and 2015 for TCM programming and messing up transmission. But of course mine wasn't part of recall yet. Although it seems same problem. I couldn't afford to pay that so paid a mechanic who installed a used transmission with 6700 miles on it. Drove 4 days seemed fine till this morning. Did the same thing. Left me stranded In middle of the road!! Had to walk 2 miles home. Hot sun. Missed work. Now I've missed 2 1/2 days because of this car...spent over $1500 i didn't have to spend. Losing my job in 3 months. General electric sending our jobs to India ...i still owe $11190 on the car!!! I called them. Again...again they act like i could have a bad transmission!!! Really I'm not buying this crap. A mechanic told me to unhook battery terminals for a few minutes. Hook back up...! Now if the transmission was bad as the Honda place claims...this would reset computer...but transmission would still be bad..correct??? Since they wanted to charge me $5600 to put new 1 in...Well after hooking the terminals up. Got in car and like magic it went in gear!!! Now the question #1 Should my car be part of the recall for the TCM that was programmed wrong?? ( seems computer/electrical to me??!!

#2 Do you think Honda knows this is an easy fix ...just by reprogramming the tcm...and would rather charge their Honda owners and outrageous amount of $ to install a new transmission??!! Either way...! Why do they keep getting away with ripping people off! They make their own transmissions! They are making a killing and their cars are not worth it anymore!! This is a Safety issue!! Someone needs to make Honda recall all these and reprogram them correctly!! I have lost $ on rental cars for 2 weeks...$600 in transmission...Labor...towing..gas..transmission fluid...time from work. I should be reimbursed! 😥 Help ideas?? What should I do with Honda's piece of crap car that cost me $28,000 now and scared to drive...☹ Anyone want to sue Honda......? I do!!!
