Paint peeling along upper edge of roof adjacent to rear window. Console display for backup/right turn camera only displays colored lines while stationary or moving. Mileage 33,340, Oct. 2020
Since purchasing my 2016 Civic new, I have had issues with the front lower under-end of the car being too low. It constantly scrapes when I go over speed bumps or small curbs. On 7/27/20, I was parking at a restaurant and slight drove up on a small curb, I stopped and backed up and parked. About 15 seconds later as I was about to exit my car, suddently the airbag deployed hitting me in the face, shoulder and chest. I was dazed, fortunately, two co-workers who were following me to the restaurant, saw that I needed help and opened the door to help me get out. I have had a headache over the last couple of days - my doctor told me it is probably a slight concussion. I would like to know if Honda has had any similar issues with this car and I would like to have my repairs paid. It is not fair for me to have the repairs done under my insurance because I have a $1,000 deductible and they are likely to raise my premiums. This was not my fault. Let me know
Paint is chipping near rear window on drivers side. After some quick research this appears to be a common problem. Bought it certified only 3 months ago.
The front driver side door is the only door that does not unlock or lock with keyless entry. The only way to unlock the vehicle is to manually pull out the key from the key fop and insert it into the door or open it up from the passenger side seat. There's nothing wrong with the current key fops because this was taken to the dealership for the same problem and was given 2 new key fops, but the problem still exists. This can be a huge issue when I'm trying to access the vehicle in case of an emergency and can't even get into the vehicle promptly.

The paint on my Civic is peeling around the rear window. The peeling is noticeable, growing, and not a function of neglect or abuse. It's like the paint was not properly applied or there is some manufacturer error that is causing the problem. The paint color is cosmic blue. It is only peeling in one spot.
Having issues with the brakes, acts like when you brake its seem like wants to keep going, purchase 3 mos ago from dealer, tires making grinding sounds when driving on frreway with speed between 65 and 70 mpr.
My 2016 Honda Civic ex-T was purchased brand new on 2016. In less than 40,000 miles, my air conditioning unit blows hot air. It is currently in the shop replacing the ac unit. They said there was a leak and I am sure refrigerant is not a safe chemical to be leaking out in the environment.
American Honda is the most fraudulent company I ever dealt with. Within the 1st year, a serious problem developed with the trunk, which randomly opens for no reason, sometimes overnight, sometimes while driving on the highway, which is incredibly dangerous. We took the car 2X to the delray beach dealer, & it claimed itcouldn't identify or replicate the problem, & then that they fixed it. They did nothing & the problem never stopped. I wasted 2 days on these visits, accomplishing nothing. Last month, now in California, & still under warranty, the trunk opened while I was away for a week, & I had water damage to > $200 of items in my trunk. I spoke with livette at Honda, who told me to go to the berkeley dealer to have the car assessed. I reviewed the history of the matter, & told her I wanted to be sure the dealer would be authorized to make repairs. Instead. I wasted another 4+ hours at the dealer, who said it couldn't identify & had never heard of the issue. There are hundreds of complaints about this on line, & when I showed them the complaints & how dealers had fixed the problem, the dealer said it needed approval from Honda (Honda said it needed the dealer to approve the repair, so it's like dealing with the insane). The dealer said it would call me after obtaining approval'they never did. Livette was the most offensive person I have ever dealt with, lied to my face, & refused to authorize the repair & closed the case though she never even spoke with the dealer. These cars have a known dangerous defect & Honda has done nothing'these cars should be recalled. The ntsb should track on-line complaints & obtain all Honda complaints for the last 5 years to determine all models affected. The car's undercarriage is also known to be defective; it is far too low & scrapes on speed bumps & gets torn off by them, parking barriers, & any road incline.
Vehicle was parked on driveway, when turned on it had battery and electric issues (battery just replaced by professional) ac blows out hot air (ac fluid just refilled as well by professional) and back door won't open from inside. Car was purchased less than two years ago and already malfunctioning.
Vehicle was involved in a front end/side collision. When told by collision shop the vehicle was finished and upon coming in to pick up the vehicle, obvious structural damage remained untouched, and unrepaired engine damage was obvious. Collision shop and insurance company insisted vehicle repairs were complete and fought me to take the vehicle to the Honda dealership for diagnostic. When the vehicle was finally taken, the check engine light was on and a dtc code was thron. Additional issues with the integrity of the vehicle post collision were noted and both collision shop and insurance company refuse to acknowledge safety issues and repair the vehicle to safety standards. Neither the collision shop nor the insurance company is familiar with the new 2016 Civic body, diagnostics, crash zones, and Honda position statements issued for the particular model. The vehicle was specifically purchased for a newly licensed driver, with safety being the top priority. The vehicle is no longer safe and it would be tragic to have another accident, where the other driver is at fault, with a much worse outcome because the integrity of this this vehicle is compromised due to inadequate repair. Unfortunately I cannot load all the repair photos, but the hood is not fitted, the pillars are buckled, the foot rockers/ floor pan is loose.
Paint peeling at bottom of left front bumper. Car is garaged. Problem noticed 2/7/18. I can slide my nail under the paint & continue to pee it. Car to be seen at Honda dealer 3/12/18 & photo of area of peel to be photographed & sent to appropriate Honda department for review. This is definitely a manufacturing deficit!
There is a dent on my car's rear upper quarter panel (C-pillar crease) on the driver's side. This dent is present on all 2016 and 2017 Civic sedan cars' either on driver's side or passenger's side. Honda dealer didn't accept this as a manufacturing defect and they refused to fix it. Additionally, there is no official explanation from Honda about the issue. I suspect that it's a safety issue. This dent problem exists globally, it's not a region specific problem as I have seen.
Just driving down a city street at 45 mph and heard a big pop. Pulled over to discover my sunroof glass had actually exploded outward. I believe this to be faulty tempered glass and wanted to report this issue. Thx
Trunk spontaneously opens. It hasn't happened while driving. I have taken it to the dealer, contacted Honda's headquarters. They are unable to reproduce the issue so cannot fix it. There are others on the Civic online forum who are experiencing this issue. This is a security issue where I cannot keep anything in my trunk. This is not right. One night after I got home, I went back out to my car and the trunk was opened. On numerous occasions, I go out to my car in the morning or after work and my trunk is open. I keep the keys as far away from the car as I can, I hang them up, but them in the bedroom and it does not good--so it is not the sensitivity of the key. I also noticed my gas tank hatch opens after I fill the tank. See the attached correspondence to Honda dated today.
The Honda Civic was in the driveway with the emergency brake set when it was parked. The vehicle has a manual transmission. A few hours later the car alarm was going off and when I went to look to see what was going on I discovered that the car had rolled down the drive and into a telephone pole. The police in my jurisdiction do not take accident reports for accidents on private property therefore a police report was not taken. After the incident I found that there was a active recall involving the emergency brake. When I bought the car on October 8, 2016 I was told there was a "do not sell" note in the computer system due to the recall. The dealer said they could do the download while we did the paperwork. After this incident involving the wreck the car was taken to a local dealer who checked the download and confirmed that the download was up to date. The car was taken back to the dealer two days later to have the brake system inspected which the dealer stated that there were no codes found in the system. This was done at the advice of Honda customer service. Honda customer service contacted me today and stated that at this time they recommend proceeding with an insurance claim. I stated that I thought that since there was an active recall and the recall had been performed on the vehicle and the emergency brake still failed that they would want to take the car to look at. I was told that they would look at the dealer reports and if they found something they would contact me back which seems dangerous to me. What's to say the brake won't fail again and next time there may be someone behind it or in front of it.
