This piece of junk we purchased with already 66,000 km on it. When trying to engage from 2nd to 3rd gear it just starts revving, and won't go into 3rd. I called Honda Canada, as I had purchased the extended warranty. I was told too bad, it is out of warrant and what did I expect purchasing a used vehicle. I said I expected more from Honda given the amount of money I paid. Taking to mechanic today, wait and see. If mechanic says needs new transmission, it will be sitting in the driveway for a long long while. During that time, given the long standing history of transmission problems with the Odyssey and the poor design/quality. I think I will draft a Statement of Claim against Honda, any one interested in joining for a Class Action Law Suit against Honda, please contact me.

Odyssey EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

When driving my HONDA ODYSSEY @ 30-40 MPH, on occasion the transmission seems to disengage. The RPM goes up to 3000 while there is no increase in speed, seems to have lost of torque. I am not sure if this is covered under power train warranty. This symptom does not occur everyday but at least every week or every 2 weeks, that is why I feel like not bringing it to the dealer for diagnosis because the problem does not occur all the time & there is no engine check light to get a code. This van has been properly maintained. I feel that the Honda quality is just a myth. I never had transmission problem w/ my Toyota before. This may be the last time that I will buy a Honda. I will be hoping to have a Toyota again in the near future.
