CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007-2009 was, at one point, the best selling minivan in the United States. But 2007 owners got the short end of that deal.

Peeling paint, a whining steering pump and an easily breakable A/C condenser are all top complaints about the 2007 model year. And anyone who doesn't think a busted minivan A/C is a big deal has never taken a summer road trip with kids.

I noticed the loss of power steering about a month ago. checked to see if this was covered under warranty and it was not. Cost me $564 out of pocket to fix the power steering pump and filter. I have a feeling that this will be either a class action lawsuit or a recall at some point. Keeping all receipts. Had this fixed along with the (2) remaining recalls. A total of (3) recalls so far, hopefully the last. Next vehicle will not be a Honda. I am afraid unless they can get it together. Toyota here I come (back)!

We bought our odyssey at a Honda dealer, and every morning since we bought it the car would make a whining noise, I was told by Honda service that is normal for Hondas to do this. in and out the pump would fail and we lose our power steering , took it in and was told it was fine.... finally after 80k miles its leaking and the power steering is out, and was told its common yet there is no recall? wow Honda... I will get a Toyota from here on out

This complaint follows my AC complaint...I just got off the phone with Honda. My car is in their shop getting the paint fixed, AC went out & a basic A-1 oil change and tires rotated. They called me with a potential over $3,000 quote. They also found:

1. Torn exterior front boots

2. Steering pump is about to go out...

I already ranted about AC...this one is for the boots...WTF. Last year I sunk $1,300.00 into this car and this year they are telling me my car will cost a little over $3,000 to fix!

Steering is very hard at low engine speeds. This is the same problem many other owners are having. I will replace the power steering pump next week with a rebuild unit. I have owned all sorts of vehicles over the years and this is the first time I have needed to replace a power steering pump.

Our 07 Honda Odyssey started having issues about 2 years ago on our annual trip to Florida. It began with the loud whine especially when trying to park or reverse. It has gotten much worse and the power steering seems non-existent at low speed. Thank goodness both my husband and I are fitness fanatics.. otherwise we would not be able to steer it! We were told of the problem by our dealership when reporting an issue with the tire pressure monitoring system. He advised that we could bring it in and have it fixed. I assumed this meant that this would be covered under warranty, by the way the service manager made it sound (Gerrish Honda, West Lebanon, NH.) In the past we had felt that we received good service there (except for the fact that they want us to pay a hundred bucks to have someone WASH our brakes and EXAMINE the suspension, during regular oil changes... REALLY?) When I called to make the appointment, the tech said that it would cost 500 dollars to fix!!!!!!!!!! In this economy- that is not something I feel like we should have to pay! They KNOW this is an issue, but aren't willing to cover it? REALLY? We are going to call the dealership again on Monday to see if they will do the right thing.... but judging from the other posts, I think we are out of luck. If that is the case, we will either do it ourselves (my husband had a body shop and can do minor repairs) or we will take it to one of our local auto mechanics who has always treated us fairly. Honda will not get any more of our money EVER if they don't do the right thing. This, like the other posts, will be the last Honda I ever own. Even if I own this one for a few more years, it will be serviced by people who aren't trying to cheat us out of money!!!!!!!

Odyssey EX-L V6

When the car was still under warranty I went to the dealer and complained about the loss of power steering when the engine is idling. The dealer stated that it is "normal" and the steering is stiff in these cars. It sounded like bull to me but I kept monitoring the problem which progressively got worse. Now the car is out of warranty, the dealer says the same non-sense like it is my option to change the steering pump for a cost close to $2k but the car will behave the same eventually.

Honda has a problem and (like Toyota) they are looking at the bottom line and screw the customers, loyalty etc. They need to have fewer phone marketing satisfaction surveys and produce good reliable cars. They have been acting lately like the "old big three" american car makers with short term goals and no principals. I do not want to bash Honda. I just want them to get better....

It appears that Odysseys have a problem with power steering pumps failing prematurely. I saw on another forum that Honda has a TSB to replace the original PS Pump reservoir caps with a revised unit, the original design allowed contaminants into the fluid reservoir which would explain the premature failure. Instead of looking at the immediate bottom line profits, if Honda would just acknowledge the short comings on their products and take care of their consumers, their bottom line would resolve itself by building a loyal owner base and reputation.

When we're trying to maneuver the car when parking, the engine is at low RPM and all power steering assist is lost. When the RPMs are "normal" the steering works fine. When this happens the steering is almost impossible to turn. Dealer says "can't replicate the problem" even though every time it is in the situation it happens.
