Back rear hatch lift struts suddenly failed. Hatch came crashing down with significant force. Did not directly see the event but it happened while my children were removing items from rear compartment. Rear hatch is very heavy and without operable struts the gate develops a significant force (appears to be large enough to cause injury). It is noticed that 2008 Honda Odyssey has a recall to similar part but for the powered lift gate version only. Honda dealer has replace parts, charged to owner = $178.

I have a safety concern for my 2008 Honda Odyssey LX. The sliding doors are very hard to open manually (from the inside and outside) when unlocked. In an emergency situation, a child or senior would be trapped inside the vehicle because he/she would not strong enough to open the sliding door.

Have three complaints. Complaint one: There is extremely long pedal travel for brake pedal. This travel gives the driver a sense of brake failure, as though the brakes don't work or will not stop vehicle. Has been noted in vehicle forums as a common problem complaint two: Wind noise on the passenger and driver pillar that separates the front seat and the middle seat combination. Has been noted in vehicle forums this is a common problem. Complaint three: There is significant dirt in paint and paint shading where it doesn't match rest of vehicle (paint shading can be seen if the sun shines on the vehicle just right). Honda has offered to repaint affected parts. I feel this is a common problem and the owner shouldn't be required to have a new car repainted with less than 1000 miles. Has been noted in vehicle forums this is a common problem.
