Makes a very annoying whining noise when turning the wheel. Mechanic tried changing steering fluid but was of no help. Another shop said it might require having some major change in axle mechanism or something. Not certainly worth for a 15 year old car.

Power steering pump is noisy and hard steering at low engine rpm's. Only in cold weather.

Dealer replaced pump in January but still has the same issue.

Asked the dealership to look at it again during the last oil change, but it was warmer outside and didn't make noise.

I've seen posts on changing a screen, but I would have thought that this was done when they pump was changed?

Of course it won't make the noise on a 60 degree day at the dealer, so the service manager will "look at it" while I spend $600 to have the timing belt and water pump changed. I said "I don't want to have to bring it back if there is a known problem."
