CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 and 2015 Honda Odyssey shows an early trend of transmission problems with clunking/jerking when shifting gears.

Most of these Odyssey transmissions are still under warranty, but so far Toyota generally hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the clunking problem — that's the reason for our low rating. Some owners have reported it was a stuck solenoid, & in a few cases Honda has replaced the entire transmission.

As more of these Odysseys start exceeding the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, buyer beware.

How would you feel if you BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR WITH A DEFECT AFTER PAYING FULL PRICE?

I just took delivery of the brand new 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY and on the way home complained to my wife about a HISSING SOUND FROM STEERING. I told a person in the dealership about it 2 days later and then took the vehicle to the dealership couple weeks later (when I got an appointment). They confirmed it was a problem with AIRBAG ASSEMBLY and said that it was covered by warranty! For god's sake, this is a brand new vehicle and I have to get the airbag assembly fixed!!! On complaint to American Honda, they said nothing can be done but just fixed.

Buying a BRAND NEW CAR paying FULL price should come with its advantages . The manufacturer should not get away with 'it's covered under warranty' for a vehicle DELIVERED WITH DEFECT...Honda, who pays for the mental agony to live with the fact the brand new vehicle has to be fixed and the loss in value when this gets reported in CARFAX?...Do you have even slightest consideration for new buyers!? I might as well have bought a used car for that! One of the main reasons to go with a Honda is its safety ratings and to have to drive a vehicle out of dealership with a DEFECT in Airbag assembly! Come on Honda...Give me a break!.

After this experience, I would never recommend Honda as they don't stand by their 'BRAND NEW' product. Given the newness of the vehicle, you should just replace it or compensate for the loss in value due to making 'repairs' to airbag assembly. I feel cheated and dreadful. I would have done better sticking with Toyota, which I had been driving all this while...Failed with Honda!
