Honda somehow has a reputation for making lasting, reliable vehicles. So, 2 years ago, I went to CarMax and shelled out more than I had wanted to find one that was reasonably new (2017 - 6 years old at the time) and relatively low miles (84,100) to be my wife's daily driver and replace our quite reliable, but aging (2008) Kia Sedona. This car has been nothing but an unreliable piece of junk ever since. I will NEVER buy another Honda ever again and I will tell everyone I know to stay far away from Hondas. Three months after buying, my wife and I were out of town over the weekend when the alternator died, leaving us stranded trying to find an open garage on a Sunday.
We found one and the cost was $1200 plus an extra night at the hotel.. Later, I discovered that there is a spool valve directly over the alternator that tends to leak oil right on top of it and, of course, eventually kills it. Honda knows about this, because there's a service bulletin on how to replace it. I eventually replaced it myself without too much trouble, but I shop had replace the timing belt quoted $1200 to fix it.
