Worst car I have ever owned. The Engine Light is on 90% of the time. Codes on the computer read random misfire on cylinders most of the time. Seems worse after filling the car with gas. Tried a new gas cap and that didn't work. The car stops running at times, anywhere. You try to start it and sometimes sit there for 30 mins. It randomly does this. Will not start at times in the driveway. I have replaced two coil packs due to computer code pointing to cylinder 1 then 4, still an issue. Hyundai wants 860.00 for a new computer. If that is the issue why isn't there a recall for them. I have heard from others that a new computer fixes the issue. Never again Hyundai. This is my second Accent. First one wouldn't start back up, AT ALL.

every 3 months my check engine light comes on, I have spent more money repairing my car than actually paying it off. I have a stack of receipts from mechanics. I've taken it to the dealer and apparently there is nothing I can do. they suggested I sell my car. its such a lemon

Accent 1.6L L4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

Check Engine light illuminated, and the car started to shake violently and lose power at idle or at speed. I could tell that it was only running on 3 cylinders. After cooling down to ambient temperatures, the car would run fine again until it warmed up, then it would start to shake and lose power.

Checked OBD II with a code reader and got P0301 (Misfire #1)

Replaced Coil Pack with unit from junkyard for $20, and the problem ceased.

I purchased a 2011 Hyundai Accent May 2011 - one year later the engine light came on, they changed coils, plugs, etc. That continued right up until Sept of 2014 - they had to replace the small engine mount.

Then again in January 2015 - Guess what the engine light came back on again. Thankfully it was still covered under warranty. I have to say that I would never purchase another Hyundai - This is my second Hyundai and the reason I purchased again was due to the mileage I got out of my first Hyundai, which I had bought second hand.

Hyundai Canada did nothing except take to your dealer. My biggest fear is that it will wait and happen again when the warranty is done.

Accent GL V4

The check engine light came on this afternoon and it starts to chug when taking off from the light. I drove 60 miles this morning. came back home and 4 hours later, ohhhh NO!!

Just last month I had a transmission flush, new brakes, 3 new belts and an ignition coil replaced (due to an engine light coming on). I really cannot afford a costly repair especially right now. I have no idea what could be happening! This upsets me because I cannot trust the Hyundai service department for telling me the truth. Plus they charge TOO much! It upsets me and causes extreme stress as I had plans to go out of town next week and now I have to figure if I can even get to work. I am starting to hate (yes, hate) Hyundai products.

If the 2011 is a bad model, FIX IT Hyundai!!!! I still owe on this car, so I really pray I can fix this problem. I have no money left. Will update when a diagnosis is determined.

BOUGHT THIS PIECE OF SH*T CAR, IS 3 YEARS NOW. WORST THING I DID. I HAVE REPLACED ALL 4, YES ALL 4, IGNITION COILS .. 1 BY THE DEALERSHIP, THEN THAT ONE AND THE REST AT MY LOCAL GARAGE DUE TO IT'S NEAR MY WORK. YES, HARD TO BELIEVE STILL HAVE TO WORK WITH BROKEN CAR. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID YOU SHOULD GET SOMETHING BACK FROM HYUNDAI.. LOL. UPON CALLING THEM WAS TOLD, OH NO WAY. YOU NEED TO BRING IT TO OUR DEALERSHIPS. SAID WHY I COULD NOT GET THERE, DID NOT GIVE A SH*T.

SO NOW ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN AND HAS NOT EVEN BEEN A YEAR SINCE LAST FIX .SHOWING IGNITION MISFIRE ON YES, COILS 1 &2..

FUNNY MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP SAID TO ME THIS YR IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE. HE WAS NOT LYING. I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD DO SOMETHING. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO BUY ANY OF THEIR CARS. GREAT GAS MILEAGE BUT I HAVE SPENT MORE IN LESS THEN 3 YRS ON THIS CAR THEN I DID ON MY 2001 JEEP SPORT I HAD FOR 11 YRS.. WOULD BE GREAT IF THIS RANT DID SOMETHING.
