This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The Gas pedal, would not work as I was trying to accelerate when going from the ramp onto the freeway. The pedal had no pump in it, it just went all the way down as I was trying to press and the car started slowing down. I had to pull over on the side of the freeway and restart the car for the pedal to start working again. I came to the dealership the next day on 12/5/25, at around 5:45pm in which I was scheduled to come back at 8am on 12/6/25. My safety was at risk, because the car lost pedal power for me to pickup speed as I merged onto the freeway. I brought it in for inspection, at the dealership I purchased it from. There were not any signals or displays that came on during the incident.
While it may sound bizarre, I can definitively demonstrate that whenever I am present inside a car, the car become very unstable and bouncy and unsafe to operate. Not only does it not steer straight the car also becomes incapable of coasting smoothly and is constantly racing or aggressively slowing down. I can-??t be the only anomaly and whatever is causing this could be widespread and is certainly dangerous. I have found it to occur only with the cars which I am inside. I would like to demonstrate this in person if possible to an investigator.
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 20 MPH with a message was displayed "School Zone, 20 MPH", however the contact was not driving in a School Zone during the failure. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel and the center console display went blank. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
Towards the end of January, my car computer was reset because the car was telling me that I needed an oil change early and the dealership told me it could just be a computer issue. I then took my car to get an oil change and full vehicle inspection on February 24th, 2 days after that on the 26th I was leaving my school parking lot when the vehicle accelerated awkwardly when I was leaving out of a parking spot, I was then able to gain control back over the speed until the vehicle again abruptly accelerated and jerked to the left sending my car over a curb, deploying the air bag, and completely totaling out the vehicle.
The car was giving me an issue with the Forward Radar blocked which was coming and going as if the radar was loose. This issue persisted for a week and the error was still coming and going after every 10-15miles of drive. Later after a week the error was constant screen and the radar is still intact to the car. Error on the screen: ######Forward Safety system disabled. RADAR BLOCKED.#####
