My steering wheeled locked while I was driving. I was turning to the right to get over and all of sudden it locked while going at a speed of approximately 50 mph. I was not able to regain control before I wrecked. When the officer arrived on seen he could not move the car because the steering wheel was still locked. So he had to use his car to push my car out of traffics way. The amount of damaged done they want to total the car....updated 10/17/17 updated 7/27/18
Car shakes a little bit at highway speeds. The problem is a loud popping noise when turning. Typically in parking lots at slower speeds. Do not hear the popping when driving ever. You can also sit in the car with the car running, turn the wheel either direction and when you turn the wheel back you can feel and hear the popping in the steering wheel and continue going back and forth producing the popping noise and vibration with every turn of the wheel. Had everything checked at private mechanic and the inner tie rods were replaced. Did not resolve the issue. The car had the engine replaced at 90000 miles related to another recall. Charged me 400 dollars for a new starter at that time when nothing was wrong with the starter prior to the engine seizing. The car now has 99900 miles on it, but the popping noise has been present since 94000 miles. One mechanic says it is rack and pinion another is saying eps needs replaced. I am calling the dealership tomorrow but both are costly repairs and a safety issue. Now the traction control light is on.
Was at a repair shop last week and was told I needed to look into a recall for my steering wheel. It makes a loud noise when adjusted or when wheel turned like a clunk noise. When I checked my VIN # it showed no recall. So now I' am a bit concerned that maybe my VIN, make and model didn't show affected by this recall but is affected. Thank you
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. While driving above 60 mph, there was an abnormal vibration in the steering wheel. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an unknown tire shop. The mechanic replaced all four tires, mounted, and balanced the wheels; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to rick case Hyundai roswell (11446 alpharetta hwy, roswell, ga 30076, (855) 254-5294) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the steering coupler failed. The vehicle was previously repaired per a warranty program; however, the vehicle exceeded the 100,000 mile limitation. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 113,487.
When driving on highway or speeds over 55 mph steering doesn't seem to adjust its hard to take turns when going over bumps or uneven roads the steering wheel rattles it's scary to drive on highways because of the hard time turning on the highway

The Hyundai Sonata 2.0T limited 2013 sedan has a lose stirring wheel - which causes wandering from left to right and vice versa at low and high speeds - the driver has to constantly keep adjusting the car which is not only dangerous but also causes fatigue especially on long routes. Many have complained online about this issue but Hyundai is dodging the issue by saying its as per specs or you aren't used to power/electronic stirring. [the car will not maintain a straight line you can be holding the wheel with all might or let go and see it wander to one side even without needing wheel alignment] the shocks are also too hard on the car resulting in a rough/bumpy ride
I was driving 65 mph on the garden state parkway southbound in the middle lane returning home from yankee stadium. Without any warning my car lost all power and was barely able to pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway avoiding several cars traveling at highway speed. Seven weeks later I am still awaiting car repairs from circle Hyundai in shrewsbury NJ and a cost of over $400. My engine failed with barely 20,000 miles.
Since 11-2016 I have been having a issue with my vehicle I have mentioned to van Hyundai dealership in carrolton tx I have been advising them when im driving on the highway my car is not going like the engine is shifting or it just wont go they advised each time I took it there was nothing is wrong with it I have had them check my vehicle 4 times and they have said nothing is wrong and to come find out it is a recall for the exact thing I have been mentioning is wrong with my vehicle they keep saying I would need to leave my vehicle for a whole day but they never have a loaner vehicle I was told they would have one in 2 weeks well I call to make sure they have the vehicle it still a run around so when I get them on the line again they do not have any vehicles for the next 2 weeks I call another dealership and it is the same thing so I have to drive around in a car that I have been having issues with I have not taken it any where else because I had a warranty now it is expired and im still in this car making payments it just sad that I cannot get help and this needs to be addressed or I will have to take further action because driving on a highway going 70 miles a hour and then the car just start to slow down like it does not want to go and try to shift gears feels like the trans is slipping its been the same issue since Nov and no resolution
While driving on the interstate, the steering catches when trying to make minor adjustments. When it catches, and I have to force the correction, it tends to release and over correct. I have to be very careful to stay in my lane. This is a constant and on going issue. I won't let my son drive this car because I'm afraid it will cause him to have an accident. I've called several dealerships and they keep saying they are not aware of this problem, even though there is a substantial number of complaints for this on-line. It is exhausting trying to maintain your lane on the interstate and is a very serious safety issue.
This vehicles steering will not stay centered while driving. There's a hard spot at center that causes you to be either left or right of it causing constant struggle to keep it in your lane. Have been to several dealerships only to be told there's no recall or tsb's on this vehicle regarding this issue. Researching the web I've discovered dozens of Hyundai owners experiencing the same problem. If not being able to keep the vehicle centered in your lane isn't a safety issue I don't know what is! one service writer in ft. Collins Colorado actually admitted there was a problem but didn't know how to go about fixing it. The same issue has been addressed on 2012 Sonatas but apparently nothing was done at the factory to resolve the problem in 2013

The dealer could not duplicate the issue, but the air conditioner was repaired due to a leak and the habitual and ignition switch were replaced; however, the noises were still present. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 80,000.
