It's something going wrong with the steering wheel colum when I drive it's making a clicking sound and the steering wheel gets loose and it does this every where I drive it and it's getting worse
Takata recall there is a rattling inside the steering wheel that should not be taken place I called the Hyundai dealership here in cleveland Ohio. Rick case Hyundai located at East 200th street and they said there was no recall when I call them. They told me I can pay $250 to have it repaired. So I really need some help so I can get this repaired without have to pay $250. My vehicle was running very fine until I went to drive her one day and rattling started in the steering wheel for no reason. Since then if I hit above 60 it starts shaking and rattling for no reason. Thank you
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, an abnormal noise was heard when the steering wheel was turned to the right or left. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same symptoms as listed in the manufacturer's extended warranty: Txx7 (steering). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
My steering is making a rattling noise when hitting a bump in the road and or making a left turn. Looking it up online it is defective and can cause an accident while driving the car. My car just passed the warranty and the dealer will not fix it. This is dangerous and I should not have to pay for a defective.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and I'm constantly having to change the back/front lights. They keep going out and the light bulbs are cheap. The back tail light has melted the socket and plastic so now I have to purchase a whole new one. Also everytime I turn the steering wheel there is a really bad clicking sound and the engine also stalls and the thing goes all the way between 3 and 4 and then the car finally jerks and moves forward.
The steering column makes a horrible clanking noise that is getting worse. I have spoken to several friends who have the same make and model and are experiencing the same issue. I've had the car for 2 years now and it is progressively worse.
My Hyundai Sonata 2013 steering column makes a clunk and knocking sound when turning the steering wheel. And recently it is getting worse especially when going over bumps and raises a cause of awareness as it is a manufacturing defect. I took it to the dealership, with an inspection and was told steering coupler needs replacement. At at 130, 000 miles I am out of warranty.
Recently, clicking sound whenever turning steering wheel. Problem has been reported by many other owners, and Hyundai has extended warranty for this fix, for cars under 100K miles or 10yrs. My car only has 91876 miles and is a 2013 (5yrs old). Oild change due at 94874. Have not been driving car since then. Taking it to Hyundai service.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. While turning the steering wheel in either direction, a clicking noise was present and the steering wheel moved out of position. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (Hyundai of philadelphia in philadelphia, pa) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. The VIN was not available.
The steering column should be defective, the wheel has a gap when you are driving and sound like metal vs metal, the same sensation when you get a bump, something in the steering column down there looks like unattached and sounds metal vs metal
Nothing has happened so far but it has a really bad steering problems. It seems so sensitive but I read on edmunds that a lot of people are have similar problems with this year make model and year also. It goes to the right and left a lot and won't stay straight. That is unsafe. Please have Hyundai look into this.
Knocking in steering column, especially when going over bumps. Took to dealership, with only external inspection was told steering coupler needs replacement. At at 120, 000 miles out of warranty.
Steering clunk when stopped testing side to side movement. Loud, in cab. Possible steering coupler failure. Unknown without disassembly. Potential for steering failure, causing accident. May be cause for off track steering issue while traveling on the highway. A previous complaint was made to local dealership that the vehicle does not hold course (steering line), forcing constant corrections with steering wheel to drive straight (or in desired direction of travel). Gives a feeling that tires are "tracking in a grooved highway" when you are on a smooth roadway at highway speeds 65mph.
This has been an issue from day one since I purchased the car used in January 2018. First drive to work. The problem is that the steering sticks at highway speeds 50-75 mph. As one drives down the road, you are always making little adjustments to keep the car going straight or while in a long sweeping bend or turn. My car will catch or stick in the straight up steering position or when making long sweeping turns. Instead of the steering wheel moving smoothly while make these adjustments, the steering will stick and cause you to over steer. Makes you have to use force to get the wheel to move out of its stuck position. It tends to wear you out because you're constantly fighting with the steering. I deal with this daily as my commute is 90 miles a day to work on the highway. I have read numerous complaints on other sites as well. I have taken it to the dealer, and they have adjusted the steering mode. The car works fine at city speeds(0-50mph) but tends to really stiffin and gets "sticky" at highway speeds. I feel this is really going to cause accidents. Being the car jerks to the side when adjusting. This really needs to be addressed, as it is a safety concern for myself and others.
The steering in this car is faulty and it's becoming dangerous. I don't have the issue every time I drive it, but it's happening more often as of late. When making a right or left turn the car will over turn (quickly jerk) towards the curve or towards oncoming traffic even when switching lanes on the highway it does this at times. I'll have to regain control in order to not hit the car next to me. This has been going on since I brought the car which was two summers ago. I will put the day it happened last below.
My Hyundai Sonata 2013 steering column has always made a clunk sound when turning the steering wheel, recently it is getting worse and raises a cause of awareness as it is a manufacturing defect that apparently keeps being reported on this vehicle. Two personal mechanics and autonation have ad said it is the most common problem with my type of vehicle. I am afraid it will lock on me while driving causing an accident of any kind due to negligence of the governed standards required by law to protect consumers vehicle purchases. I deeply request and highly insist the government investigate the apparently most common problem of this vehicle before it becomes something to haunt the company in regret.
Severe clunk from steering column. When the wheel is initially turns, there is a short amount of "play" before a loud clunk can be heard. This is also heard going over bumps. I feel this may be something coming loose and can lead to problems with steering.
Severe loose play & clunk in steering column and steering wheel. Steering wheel shaking while driving & loss of control and trouble staying in lane. Vehicle only has 4,200mi's.
