Vehicle gets stuck in a gear when accelerating and will then slam into the next gear with substantial force! Force so great the driver would liken it to a broken driveshaft that was also just run over. A very loud bang is heard and the vehicle shakes abruptly from the shock. My wife who was riding with me assumed we had just been hit by another vehicle. This is an intermittent problem that can not always be replicated under the same driving conditions.

PTU failed at 20,000 miles (vehicle is driven only a few thousand miles per year). Had PTU replaced by dealer (at full dealer charges), but the problem persists and dealer now wants to replace the differential. This appears to be the exact problem meant to be covered by the 2018 (not certain of date ?) warranty extension to 8yrs/150,000, which assessment was confirmed by an independent repair shop. However the vehicle was manufactured a few months prior to the 2014 starting date of such extension and Jeep/Chrysler refuses to cover it. Because the vehicle is outside the covered period, I never received the warranty extension notice and have only just learned about the extension.

PTU made loud grinding noice, wasn able to move vehicle from red light up the hill. Loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. Was able to move away from the road, felt like whole engine will jump out from the frame. It occured before I knew about W47 recall which is not an actual fix for this issue. Some torque still present, I can drive 3 mp/h on flat roads, not up on the minor hills. Now I simply don't know what to do because W47 recall not going to fix it and not going to prevent same issue after mechanical repair in the future.

The power transfer unit commonly referred to as the PTU on the jeep Cherokee is a faulty piece of equipment. Mine has been confirmed failing by the dealer and needs to be replaced. If not replaced the vehicle could lose propulsion and cause an accident. If it fails why the vehicle is parked it could release the wheels to spin and go down any incline it's parked on causing injury or death to anybody near it.

My 14 jeep had a shift fault pop shift solenoid low voltage inJanuary of 2019. The dealership could not recreat the issue but the code was stored so I paid to replace valve body due to them not being able to fix shift solenoid 2years later and the fault returned went back to dealer ship and they can-€™t recreate problems and the fault code is in history. There-€™s a recall for wiring harness not crimped properly which will cause this issue.

I had purchased this 2014 jeep in the summer of 2021, which for the first many months was in the dealership repair shop longer than what I had it in my possession. After my purchase this vehicle immediately started having very strong jerking when hitting the exploratory, and even when attempting to hold a speed. These strong jerks were so strong it would cause your body to jolt forward. The dealership finally threw up their arms and said this was typical of the jeeps, and ignoring the danger. This vehicle has now been sitting in my driveway unable to start for over a month now, and was finally towed to another repair shop, just to learn that the starter is shot and needed to be replaced costing over $600 dollars. This vehicle is most definitely a dangerous lemon that it appears that I am stuck with.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH and passing another vehicle, the transmission inadvertently shifted into neutral. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and parked the vehicle. Then the contact shifted to drive and continued to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and as she attempted to shift to drive, the vehicle downshifted to a lower gear. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the failure was related to an unknown recall and to take the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the repair would be completed at her expense because the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 31,500.

The PTU failed on a well maintained 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The vehicle is available anytime for inspection upon request. My safety and others safety is at risk based on a very large scale of reports and articles regarding bad PTU for this vehicle. The SVC 4WD warning light came on my vehicle and the 4x4 system is not working. I took the vehicle to a Jeep dealership. The Jeep dealership performed a diagnostic and inspection of the vehicle and determined that this vehicle has a bad PTU. The dealership gave me a quote of $3,900 to replace the bad PTU.

our mileage/odometer is flashing and states TSB. The TCM has been reprogrammed 3-4 times and still malfunctioning. Electrical issues through out cause stereo to not turn on sometimes and the all the sudden turn on its own. We have made complaints to the jeep and they said the recall have already been done they wont help us and then close our case with out any solutions. We have already spent 2000 or more fixing issues that don't help the problem. We completely replaced the shifter and the whole assembly that goes with it. We have had a quick learn done to the transmission. We still had codes popping for the TCM prior to the shifter going out. We have had codes come up for the drive train and where told that recall was already done and we still have issues. We are at a loss here and dont know what else to do. We have only got this car a little over a year ago and have reported problems since day one.

I was driving on the highway approximately 60mph, suddenly the service 4wd light appears. I took it to a Jeep dealership service center and diagnose and needed a 2 speed transfer case unit. It was replaced costing a little under $3000. The problem was not fixed and garage said it was misdiagnosed and still doesn-€™t know what-€™s wrong. Now the vehicle stalls while I-€™m driving and will not start immediately. I-€™m afraid this is going to cause an accident! Also it will have a sudden acceleration or a delayed acceleration while driving or when moving from a complete stop. This is very scary!
