I love the Cherokee but hate the transmission. This is the second transmission. First died with 1950 mile or two weeks after I had it! The transmission has never shifted smoothly in the lower gears. This problem happened when I tried to go up a paved road in Gatlinburg TN. As I turned on the road to go up the hill I think it was in 3rd gear. The car bogged down and almost came to a stop until I used the manual feature to shift to 1st and then 2nd gears to get up the hill! I had other cars behind me and it could have been bad if I had not reacted quickly.

The deal said bring it in but most likely it is just the way it is going to be and they really have no "Flash" updates to correct it. What A Load of Crap! What happens when it is out of warranty and the transmission dies again! I'm screwed!

So I finally talked my wife into a SUV. (first mistake) So I seen this pretty green colored Jeep Latitude setting on the lot and drove it home to show my wife, and get her reaction. She really liked it, so the next day she went to the dealer and did the no I'm not paying that much and finally ended up with the Jeep.

It was a great feeling.. We had planned to go to Fort Collins to see our son for a few days and we had a new SUV to go in. (second mistake) So we go the long way up I70 take it through the mountains and get to the tunnel and start down so I shift it down to 4th and think this should be good. I start around a left hand curve and it's kind of rough and it feels like the car is going pretty fast,so I look down and the speedo is setting on 80 I look at the tach, it is setting at idle. I thought holy cow and shifted to 5th the tach come up so I go back to 4th and the tach stays up this time.

Any way made it up there and the next day we are pulling into our sons apartment complex and I give it throttle to move and it just sets there, give it some more and it finally takes off. So that afternoon our son is driving and we pull off College Dr. and to go shopping and it happens again, give it more throttle and it finally takes off. So I figure we better take it to the Jeep dealer and have it checked.

At Fort Collins Jeep I walk in and talk to one of the service writers and tell him it's like it looses prime and then you rev it up and it re-primes it self and goes on. Ask if the could check the oil and of coarse he said they would so he pulled it in and then after 30 minutes or so he comes out and says it has to be under 60 degrees so we left it there that night. Went back the next morning and they checked the level and for codes and everything was fine. But he really didn't want us to drive it 400 miles home. But we did. then it started not shifting down when we stop. All of this and it won't set a light on the dash.

The local dealer says it has to set a light before they can fix it. Figure that the 2 other cars they replaced the trans. in wasn't enough to have them try to fix it any way. One of those two cars was from the transport to the shop and a new trans put in before it was on the lot. My wife called Chrysler and talked to some lady on the phone and all she could say is "what you want me to do about it". So we have a nice new SUV with 6000 miles on it that we are afraid to drive out of town.

Update from Jul 15, 2015: Just an update. We e-mailed Jeep and got a case number and should find out something Friday 7-17-15. Hoping for a good fix, or something different
