CarComplaints.com Notes: Whenever a new product is introduced, there's bound to be some problems. And man oh man, does the 2006 Commander have some problems.

It's the plight of the 1st-generation adopter: you get the newest and shiniest in exchange for a handful of issues that get ironed out in future versions. But what happens when that handful of issues becomes a bucketload? The 2006 Commander has quality control issues like the door handles breaking off and the sunroof leaking. But what's truly worrisome is the electrical problems like the vehicle shutting down unexpectedly, gauges going crazy or the cruise control having a mind of its own.

Bottom line: if you want a Jeep Commander, you're better off looking at a later model year.

The icons on the panel will come on randomly or all at once. Was driving down road. All icons came on and stayed on for a minute. When this happens my drivers seat will move front-back slightly, my windshield wipers will randomly turn on/off, Jeep will hesitate for a second and the heater fan will blow. Then the issues will suddenly stop.

Took in to dealership and was told they couldn't find anything but reset it. When cold my tire pressure psi will come on showing one or more tires are sometimes severely low pressure. Or I will get a message saying "Service tire soon check enter" and the "!" icon came on with it. It came on twice and shut off after a few minutes. The check engine light will come on. Will take it to Advance auto to check codes. Shows too many codes to even remember. Then it will shut off and all will be fine for a while. I have a factory auto start can start it will run for a few and shut down. Or I will get out of the truck and start walking away and the horn will beep and the jeep will start up. I then have to go back and get in and rev the gas pedal for it to shut down.

My drivers seat belt will randomly come unlatched. Took that in and they want over $500.00 to fix it. The passenger back door handle quit working from the inside. $400.00 to fix.
