CarComplaints.com Notes: Whenever a new product is introduced, there's bound to be some problems. And man oh man, does the 2006 Commander have some problems.

It's the plight of the 1st-generation adopter: you get the newest and shiniest in exchange for a handful of issues that get ironed out in future versions. But what happens when that handful of issues becomes a bucketload? The 2006 Commander has quality control issues like the door handles breaking off and the sunroof leaking. But what's truly worrisome is the electrical problems like the vehicle shutting down unexpectedly, gauges going crazy or the cruise control having a mind of its own.

Bottom line: if you want a Jeep Commander, you're better off looking at a later model year.

the sunroof leak was so bad we had an inch of water on the floors, they'd fix it and it would leak again, happened 4 times, the last time they fixed it on friday it rained saturday night and we had an inch of water on the drivers side floor. water came out the courtesy lights above the door, it ruined the radio and nav system 2x, The last time it happened we took monday off , brought it in to service the service manager asked whats wrong? I told him it leaked again taking the nav system and radio out again, He said oh we'll get right on it ,I told him don't bother I'm going to shove this jeep up somebody's ass before we leave, Needless to say we drove out of there in a new truck at a greatly reduced price and got almost full price we paid for the jeep! that was nice of the dealership!

The sunroof leaks! I have cleared the drain tubes .... blew air through them, then poured hot water down. They drained fine. It rained two days later and the floor on the driver's side splashed as I got in. Water came from the grab handles and near the sun visor. TWO DAYS LATER... water dripped from the entertainment system! Something has to be done!

I keep my car well maintained but it will probably rust from the inside! There have been many complaints. Something has to be done.

Just bought Jeep today so not sure if the leaking sunroof tubes are a recurring issue but while we were inside dealership signing paperwork it was raining for hours. When I went to leave parking lot noticed saturated wetness and dripping water on corners of driver and passenger side inner roof. The sun viser was up and also wet. I'm assuming this is either from sunroof drain pipes or windshield. I loved the Jeep but now getting skeptical and owned less than 6 hours.

EVERY TIME IT RAINS OUTSIDE, IT RAINS INSIDE IN MY CAR. THE LEAK APPARENTLY COMES FROM THE ROOF. IT TRAVELS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE CAR AND GETS THE ROOF LINING WET. WHEN THAT GETS WET IT LEAKS ON WHOMEVER IS IN THE CAR, THE FRONT, MIDDLE AND BACK ROWS. IT GETS SO BAD THAT THE CAR SMELLS AWFUL AND THE RUGS GET WET AND I DON'T MEAN JUST DAMP. YOU CAN ACTUALLY STEP ON THE RUG YOUR SHOES GET WET. JUST DISGUSTING. WHEN MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CHRYSLER THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NOT FIX.
