CarComplaints.com Notes: The fourth generation Grand Cherokee took the relatively trouble-free run of the 3rd-generation and flipped the script.

From 2010 to 2011, complaints about the vehicle not starting increased 10-fold. In fact, the 2011 model year is riddled with engine problems and a defective TIPM might be to blame. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) distributes power to all the eletrical components in the vehicle, so when it starts acting funny so do numerous other components in the car. Orders for new TIPMs were so abundant that parts became scarce, prompting a class-action lawsuit claiming Chrysler ignored this obvious defect.

By 2012 complaints dropped back down by about 80%. Needless to say, if you see a used 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a lot just keep walking.

Vehicle constantly stalls. Recall was performed for the fuel pump relay however this did not completely solve the problem as it still stalls randomly or won't start at all. Huge safety concern have been almost hit on the road from random stalls. Took it to my local mechanics and they say the fuel pump relay is burning out the fuses and I need to constantly check on them to make sure they're not burnt out. Took it to brookdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge after recall was performed to complain about it still stalling years ago. Brookdale Chrysler refused to perform any service as they could not 'duplicate' the issue. Ever since then I've been dealing with this issue and it's horrifying to drive the vehicle sometimes and incredibly disappointed as I'm still paying off this vehicle. Randomly stalls on turns, city roads, highway speeds, or even when in idle.

While I am driving the car with my kids on the highway and suddenly the fuel pump failed due to relay failure and the car immediately stops in the middle of the highway also, sometimes the car no-start. I needed to terned the switch off for a few minutes and then it starts again. I went to the Jeep service center and they recognized and confirmed it as manufacturer recall number: V62 or (NHTSA recall number: 19V-813). They said they don't know how to solve it due to "remedy not yet available" and they actually don't see any open recall on their system by the company Jeep. I show them what safercar.com says on the internet but they said they couldn't help due to lack of information and instructions from the manufacture and Jeep company. I call 1-800-853-1403 but the guy couldn't help me if I am currently out of the us. I also call 1-586-274-8176 of international service but no answer or assistance. I bought the car in the us and it is now with me during my stay in israel - the company service just doesn't have a remedy or solution or Jeep instructions on how to fix it. This is very unsafe to drive the car. (recall related incident)

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V813000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving and attempting to turn the vehicle to the left, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. In addition, the contact needed to depress the brake pedal with excessive force. The contact placed the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition. When the vehicle was restarted, it resumed normal operation. The failure occurred a total of five times with one of the failures occurring when making a right turn instead. The contact called orr Chrysler Dodge Jeep (located at 900 truman baker dr, searcy, ar 72143, 501-279-3311) where it was determined that because there was no check engine warning indicator illuminated, they would not be able to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provide case number: 57815893. The contact was informed to have the dealer diagnose the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 100,167.

I have had this Jeep in shop to find out that the tipm is no good the low beam headlights do not work the heater turns on and off whenever it wants and not sure what else is acting up but this is all while driving or sitting still. I have called Chrysler and filed a complaint and tried to get help as this is a 1500 dollar fix and have read that there was a class action law suit for this year against them for this in California and that those involved were given some type of supplemental help toward their repair bill.

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a defect on cylinder# 2 apparently there was no recall even though it is a defect. My lights would flicker in drive sitting at a red light, still does, and now the engine is starting to run rough, after more and more research come to find out this is an issue with these Jeep never a recall but there was an extended warranty that was put out by Chrysler 10 yrs or 150,000 miles. Just found this out a couple of days ago, I have 152,000, so they would not honor their warranty. I have documentation that cylinder 2 was an issue in 2017 I have documentation where my car was diagnosed when it had 95,000 miles at the time it was wasn't a dealership so they wouldn't accept it. Its going to cost me around $4,000-$6,000 to get it fixed, not sure why it has to be dealership documentation, I feel that Chrysler has been hiding this from consumers to save money and let the consumer take the fall for a defect that they were aware of. Why cant this be recalled" regardless of miles, very disgruntled with Chrysler for putting out products that have issues, I have taken my Jeep to every recall it has had and its been about 5 of them. I love the Jeep but the mechanical and electrical of Jeep has many issues would not recommend to anyone. How many people have to have these issues in order for it to be recalled"

My battery light came on so I pulled over at an advanced auto and had the battery checked. This was on my way to work. They tested my battery and said the battery that I had just replace 3 months earlier had a bad cell. How is that possible? I had it replaced and then tried to start the vehicle to test the alternator. At that point my alternator started smoking after the vehicle started. They said my alternator wasnt charging enough and it needed replaced. At this point I had to disconnect my battery to stop the alternator from smoking. When I did this, my battery felt unusually hot. Got it tested and it blew my battery. I replaced the battery and the alternator and then the starter was not functioning at all. I replaced the starter and there was no change. The starter was not getting any power. As im reading through the complaints section the only two things it could be it seems is the tipm or the PCM. This seems like it should be a major safety concern and should be looked into before someone gets hurt. Maybe could be a class action lawsuit on Jeep as it should stand behind its product.

I previously reported that this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3.6 pentastar engine) stalls without warning. The vehicle has stalled at least twice in August, numerous times in September, and already twice this month (October). What is more concerning is there is no check engine light the warns of the pending stall condition. Also, I have had the thermostat, lifters, tappets, rocker arms, cylinder head, spark plugs, and ignition coils replaced and problem seems to be getting worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons tysons corner). The dealer cannot read any active or stored codes for the stalling issue. Additionally, the shop foreman advised that it appeared to be the fuel pump. I ordered the $540 fuel pump and had replaced on Monday October 7, 2019 for an additional $630. Ironically enough, the vehicle stalled going home and the fuel pump repair did not fix the issue. The mechanic and service advisor now say that I should replace the PCM and then the tipum if all else fails. This is an additional $3,000 in estimated service that they cannot guarantee that will fix the issue. The most concerning thing is that Chrysler will not be held accountable for this. I have also filed a complaint with fca, whom initially just closed the case. I then filed another one today and requested to speak with a case manager, which is pending (no faith at this point). It should also be noted that fca is aware of this issue as addressed in the recall: Chrysler is recalling 188,723 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVS in the U.S. because of a defective fuel-pump relay inside the power module that can cause the vehicles to "stall without warning."

Our Jeep Grand Cherokee caught fire while sitting in the carport under our home unattended and unpowered on August 25 2018. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee was serviced by the spitzer Chrysler Jeep dealer in homestead Florida on August 22 2018 for recall R71/NHTSA 15V-879 plus two other items. The vehicle was picked up late on Friday August 24 and driven home where the vehicle remained parked until it caught fire the next morning around 1135. I had just walked past the car at around 1130 and everything was fine. By 1155 we noticed smoke coming from under our home and I rushed down to find a blazing inferno. I called 911 and immediately started fighting the fire to prevent my home from catching fire and burning down. Fire inspections were completed by the state fire marshall, usaa insurance fire inspector, fca Chrysler fire inspector, and zurich insurance fire inspector. The recall and fire was caused by a faulty manufacturing and assembly process. Fca Chrysler choose to deny any responsibility in building a defective vehicle and developing a recall which once applied made our vehicle more likely to catch fire. Our Grand Cherokee is not the only vehicle to catch fire after the recall was applied. A quick search on the internet will find others that have burned post recall. My insurance carrier relayed to me that one agent had advised a friend not the have the recall done as some cars were burning post recall. While fca Chrysler is trying to place blame on the dealer who applied the recall the facts and other inspections do not support that conclusion. Fca Chrysler has denied any responsibility and considers the case closed as they do not want to be faced with another 600,000 to 700,000 vehicle recall Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge durango vehicles covered under this recall.

My vehicle has stalled twice with my children in the car due to the listed recall in which Chrysler has already replaced once! this did not fix the problem and is currently at the dealer again for diagnoses because I am scared for my life to drive this vehicle. Can you please help! I was in motion going 55 miles an hour in the fast lane when the vehicle stalled for no reason. The Jeep service tech has linked it back to the same fuel relay and this could be a fatal problem if not fixed. Please I have three kids and myself that could be injured if this is not addressed asap!! Chrysler is recalling 188,723 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVS in the U.S. because of a defective fuel-pump relay inside the power module that can cause the vehicles to "stall without warning, " according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The SUVS are equipped with either a 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter V8 engine. "in the affected vehicles, the fuel-pump relay inside the totally integrated power module may fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning, " said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "a vehicle stall increases the risk of a crash." This is part of a global recall of an estimated 230,760 Chrysler SUVS, including 15,898 in Canada, 7,126 in Mexico and 19,013 outside the nafta region. Chrysler said it is unaware of any accidents or injuries linked to the recall. It added that no other vehicle functions, including airbag deployment, are affected by the fuel-pump relay. The affected SUVS were built from January 5, 2010 to July 20, 2011. Dealers will replace the fuel-pump relay with one external to the totally integrated power module. The recall is expected to begin on October 24. Owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Purchased 5/19. Reported engine stall while driving to NHTSA. Took vehicle to dealer for brake recall. Tech said air in brake lines may have caused problem. Did not stall for a month and assumed solved. Started again in August. Very dangerous vehicle. Stalls when slowing for right hand turns and left turns crossing traffic which almost got me into a crash on a highway. Others have reported same issue and no response from manufacturer. Cannot take passengers as this is a pending disaster and is unsafe

The fuel pump relay is defective. This has already been recalled but the patch "fix" Jeep does does not solve the problem completely and they know this. There is an issue with the computer which does not send correct signal to fuel pump. On start car will not start often because it is not receiving any fuel. I am afraid this cheap "fix" Jeep came up with will cause the fuel to go out while driving. The biggest defect with the car is the V-8 hemi cam shaft and lifters. Every mechanic I have taken my car too has said that Jeep knows it is a problem but will not fix. I was driving 70 mph when my Jeep lost power and the check engine light came on and started flashing which with the loss of power cause me to just about have a wreck on the highway. It was a very scary scenario. I took it to my trusted mechanic who foudn a cylinder 2 misfire & performed a tune up and he said I needed to report the problem to Jeep as they are known to have sever problems. The dealer charged me to "diganose" the problem and reported back that the lifters and cam shaft need to be replaced. This has been such a bad problem for Jeep the lifters have been on back order multiple times but they will not admit it is a problem. My car has less than 100,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained and now lookin G at rebuilding an engine and Jeep will only provide 2 year warranty or the work, which shows they have no trust in the fix and there is a fatal flaw with the V-8 hemi. Please force Jeep to honor their customers and correct the known mistakes with their engines.
