CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Grand Cherokee 3.6L V6

IF STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT FOR AWHILE, AND THEN YOU PULL AWAY NORMALLY IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY GIVE A CLUNK SOUND (FEEL AND HEAR IT) AS IT IT COMING FROM THE DRIVE SYSTEM-

SO FAR THE THEY HAVE REPLACED TRANSFER CASE, PROP SHAFT, BEARINGS, CHECKED ALL CONTROL ARM LINKS, REPLACED FRONT SHOCKS. REMAPPED THE ECU A NUMBER OF TIMES. THIS HAS TAKEN OVER 18 MONTHS UNDER WARRANTY AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. I AM COMING TO THE END OF MY M/CONTACT AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND SAY THAT I HAD SOME LOOSE ITEMS IN THE SPARE WHEEL AREA THAT COULD BE CAUSING IT. DO THEY THINK I WILL FALL FOR THAT? THEY ASSURED ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG, SO WHEN THE M/C EXPIRES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, THEN I WANT THIS TO SERVE AS PROOF THAT I HAVE DONE MY BIT TO GET IT SORTED WHILE UNDER M/C AND THEY HAD BETTER NOT GIVE ME EXCUSES THAT IT WILL THEN BE CHARGEABLE.

SPOKE TO THE DP AND ALSO EXPRESSED MY CONCERN SO ANY FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS TO PASS ONTO THEM WOULD BE GREAT.

Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L

i took the my car in to be serviced and i asked them to check out the thumping noise in the rear end when i pull up to a stop ,approx 5-10kmh and the droning vibration in the drivetrain at 100kmh , when i picked it up i paid for the service then they told me they did not have time to look at these 2 problems . i took it to another dealer who had it for 3 days and couldn't tell me what was causing the problems. i took it back to my original dealer , they had it for 5 days , when i picked it up the problems were gone, by the time i drove the 15 kms home both problems were back, what am i supposed to do now ?? keep taking it back to the dealer when jeep australia do not seem to have a fix

Update from Jan 15, 2014: THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK AT THE DEALER FOR 11 DAYS AND THEY HAVE DECIDED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSFER CASE "BUT" THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY NEW TRANSFER CASES IN AUSTRALIA AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THERE IS NONE IN THE U.S AS WELL ,AND THEY CAN'T GIVE ME A DATE AS TO WHEN THEY CAN FIX THE CAR. "AWESOME"
