CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

My 2012 Jeep Grand cherokee stalls without warning for months now. Now it is starting to hard start or not start at all and continues to stall when i am driving. I have been to the dealership 10+ times and they have found "nothing wrong" but have attempted to fix other problems that i have had to pay for that have still NOT fixed the problem. It has not been able to be recreated even though they have kept it for a week multiple times and put hundreds of additional miles on it. This is a SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND HEALTH ISSUE when i am driving on the street or highway from 25/35+ MPH and all of a sudden it just stalls and there is not power steering or control AT ALL. It also "jerks" sometimes when I push on the gas when accelerating. There has been a recall regarding SOME 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokees but they say not mine. If i have continuously have this issue, WHY is mine not recalled as well??? I do understand that vehicle recalls are VIN specific although the manufacturer could have placed a defect part into mine also. I have asked for a monitor to be placed on my vehicle to "get the codes if possible when it stalls" but have been told "NO" 2+ times from the dealer. I do not have another vehicle to use whenever i need and have had to wait up to 2 weeks to get it to the dealer due to dealer rental availability.

Grand Cherokee Loredo 5.7L V8

The vehicle started momentarily then stalled and would not restart. Let it sit for awhile and it started right up.

Had the Fuel pump Relay recall done last year. Still having the same issue the recall was for. The vehicle stalls occasionally as I am coming to a light. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice, the first time they said they could not diagnose the second time they had it for three days and said BOTH fuel pumps are to be replaced at a cost of $1500.

This problem was happening once a day or every other day. After being diagnosed as the fuel pumps the issue stopped happening as often and now happens only weekly. Now i am suffering from the vehicle not starting occasionally and you have to let it sit for 10min before it will start.

I asked, "Occasionally, when coming to a light BOTH fuel pumps stop working at the SAME time?" The answer was yes. Since doing my research I have found the fuel pumps are supposed to be warrantied for 7/70000.

Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.0L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission

I press the start button, it starts, and cuts out straight away, but will not let me restart, as it still thinks its running. Eventually it resets itself and let me start, some times up to an hour later, but looking in the Jeep book I decided to pull the ignition fuse out, and hear click, click, click, this reset itself for me to restart, but I have to open the bonnet, using pointy nose pliers, pull out the 10 amp ignition fuse and put it back in. I then get in the car and it will restart. The frequency of the problem is increasing, to every three or four days now, I am hoping it doesn't cut out while driving at speed in the future.

Another side problem is the engine light sometimes comes on, causing the need to check under the bonnet, and this may last anywhere from one hour to one week? but not always.

I could not recommend the purchase of a Jeep to anyone now.
