CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

While I was leaving from work I made a right turn. When I made the right turn my power steering and power brakes locked up and I couldn't stop in time and hit a telephone pole. This power steering and power brake failure has happened before. This time I couldn't correct the issue and crashed. There was no stalling an no trouble lights that illuminated. This issue is terrifying. I could have been killed or killed someone else. Now I have thousands in repairs because this is not an acknowledged issue.

Update from Feb 6, 2023: My insurance totaled the jeep. Im sick over this

Had an appointment (third time 9/7/18) for recall to replace alternator. Waited over an hour and was told part not available. This was after a call to recall 800 number to assure me it was available. The very next day backing out of my garage the power steering light comes on. Checked and there was no fluid. Drove vehicle back to Reedman/Toll, no power steering. This is after filling power steering reservoir as directed by service manager.

Then I was told the pump was bad and there was a leak in system. (9/10/18) Never saw any fluid under car and never noticed anything wet on chassis. Always parked in my garage. Asked where leak was and was told pump and something electrical. Since the rack and pinion was leaking 9 months earlier (never saw anything under car) i thought if this was a bad part installed and caused the pump issue it should to covered.

Again talked with service manager about my concern with seeing no fluid leaking, he stated its burning off. I stated i never smelled any burning. Car was serviced in June for normal maintenance. Still in shop and told 3 to 5 days for pump to come in. Oh, on positive side alternator is in and will be replaced. P/U on 9/17/18 $881.
