On September 13, 2018 I drove to work and park the Patriot on a street corner. My work is around 12 miles from my home. In the afternoon I came back to it but it will not crank up or start. All the lights and the radio are working properly. I tried to jumping the battery but it did not work. I had to leave it and come back the next day and then I tried to take off the battery terminals hoping the car computer will reset but that did not help. I had to leave it again and come back the next day. I have a OBDII reader but it says there was no problem. Finally a local mechanic helped me out and diagnosed it as a TIPM problem and was able to start the Jeep so I can bring it to a mechanic closer to my home. I ended up paying more than 1400 dollars to have the TIPM replaced.

There seems to be a major parasitic draw on the battery. The battery is 1 year old and after a full charge it drains overnight. Everything is off with keys out of ignition. After studying blogs and web sites for a solution, or even what would cause such a problem, the only common thread was that dealerships were no help. I'm no engineer but have just enough knowledge to get into trouble. So I removed the TIPM, relay box, and the multifunction sticks on the steering column. Every part looks brand new with no corrosion or broken connector pins. Maybe it's the wiring harness. I'll need to sharpen my ax.

Update from Jul 30, 2017: After a few hours of digging through the wiring harness and not finding anything obvious, I bought a TIPM. Problem solved. A bad TIPM can show symptoms I never thought possible.

I got a 2010 Jeep Patriot Limited 2.4L. One day while driving the ABS and Traction light came on intermittently. Then for a while it remained on. Check the diagnostic and reading was, not enough current through to the ABS unit.

While searching Google, I found out that it might be the ABS Sensors that might be faulty or dirty. I cleaned the sensor and the lights went off for a mere 10minutes and switched back on. Upon searching now with specifics. i.e, 1 fog light working, 1 not working. 1 park headlamp working, 1 park headlamp not working. Both brake lights not working only the third brake light on the top of the tailgate working. Passenger side electric window switch was also intermittent. I came across much more, where there were faulty TIPM installed in the vehicles.

Please can someone point me in the right direction. I'm going to have to spend thousands of dollars (above what I've spent already) to have this fixed.
