Airbag light stays on. Mechanic says the clock spring is faulty. This is a problem with many Jeep owners that I know. This is a safety hazard, because the airbag may not deploy in a collision.

Air bag light activated with chime for several cycles. Now air bag light stays on. Sometimes flickers / flashes, but mostly stays lit. This was on smooth pavement at highway speed. 'can't understand why the system failed or why the local dealer wants so much to repair an obvious safety item that shouldn't have gone bad.
The airbag light in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) has begun going off and chiming while driving at least one time every minute. This light indicates that something is wrong with the airbag and the problem has been diagnosed as a clock spring issue. The horn no longer works and per the dealer, it is the clockspring. This cost about $500 to replace. The same make and model of the previous year had a recall but they have not recalled the 08 which apparently has the same problem.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that there was a recall for the failure under NHTSA campaign id number: 11V528000 (air bags: Frontal) however, the contact's VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 73,000.
Airbag light came on intermittently at low driving speed. Eventually stayed on permanently whenever vehicle was in gear. Failed clock spring was diagnosed. This vehicle is the more common left hand drive.
Dodge dealership has inspected my Jeep for an airbag warning light illuminated. I have an extended warranty from millennium and the will not cover the repair. The problem has been diagnosed as a faulty clock spring. This is a lhd vehicle. The recall id 94030 is for the RHD Jeep. My airbag light came on while driving at 40mph. Wolfchase Jeep refused to warranty item. I had to pay for trouble shooting, but Chrysler would not warranty even though there is an obvious problem. There is already a recall for R/H drive and 07 model year Wrangler.
The airbag light began coming on & going off on sat 11/17/2012. I tried calling the dealership they were closed. Called on mon. 11/19/12. Took Jeep in mon afternoon. Was told today that I would have to pay for it because it had already been replaced. I do not think that I should have to pay for this as it was a recall and had happened again. There must be something wrong or it would not go out in the first place would appreciate some help from someone. I am so upset with this Jeep that I will probably never buy another one and will suggest that no one else buy one either. I have had numerous other problems with this Jeep.
