CarComplaints.com Notes: Kia really changed the design of the Sorento in the 2011 model year. Instead of a truck-like body-on-frame more capable of offroad adventures, the newest Sorento is a unibody construction and is much more crossover than sport utility. The changes brought a whole slew of problems, including a frustrating problem where the door that won’t open. Is it too late to go back?

I have children with special needs. I need my vehicle to work. Can drive with out head lights at night or early in the morning. Seeing how my children's appointments are in another city, we often leave before sun up.

This problem needs to be fixed. I can't afford to fix it at this time. Kia knows there is a problem and they need to make it right. I will never buy a Kia again.

Drivers side low beam bulb went out so I replaced it. I noticed within a month I had to replace again and when I went to replace the wires were melted. We did put another bulb in and it worked - for a few weeks at least. And here we are! I haven't repaired it yet. Scared to see the price - just not driving at night right now.

I have read that others have had the same problem. This is the second time my low beam headlight harness has melted in the past 2 months. I am not sure why this would all of a sudden start happening??? I agree with the others on this site. If Kia is aware of the problem, why are they not fixing it?

After driving in the poring rain at night and having my headlights going on and off. I went to the auto parts the next morning and after looking at it they could see the wires were melting. I paid over $20,000 for this vehicle in 2013 with very few miles on it. Every door handle has broken off interior and exterior and has had to be replaced a year ago and already drivers side exterior has already broke again. Interior light went out 1 year after I bought it and not a bulb issue. But the headlight issue should be a recall before someone is killed and Kia is sued. This is one of the cheapest made vehicles I have ever owned. It's plastic parts are like a power wheel. This is a dangerous situation...

So sad that KIA wants the money and don't stand behind their vehicles.

NEVER WILL I PURCHASE A KIA AGAIN.....OR RECOMMEND KIA.. DEATH TRAP

After reading over several complaints on several different blogs and websites, it seems that this is a known issue with the 2008-2016 Sorento. Yet the dealership acts like this is the first time they have ever heard of the problem. Low beams burning out frequently? Check that electrical connection, I bet you will seem some scorch marks, in my case the whole thing has melted! Definitely reporting issue here as well as with NHTSA.
