I started my car December 15th and started driving. 6 miles from where I live I her a pinging noise. it quickly turned to a loud knocking noise. I pulled over and called a friend. he walked me thorugh different things to check. He asked if any warning lights were on. I replied no.Any fluids leaking now or in the past. Again I replied no not now and driveway is compeltly clear. he then asked me to check the oil. I did and it was bone dry. I put 4qts in and let it sit for a hour. he asked again was there any waring lights. No nothing at all. I then drove the car 1/2 block to a mechanic and he said I needed a new engine.

How is that possible? How can I be completly out of oil? How can there have been no warning lights? No engine or Oil warning lights. After doing some research I come to find out this is a known problem. Why did I not recieve a recall notice from Kia? Why was there no warning of this issue sent to Kia owners? I just put new tires and breaks on my 2014 Sorento.I also had a oil change 3-4 months ago.Now I have the Car and no funds to replace the engine let alone buy a used car at this time. Is Kia resposible to replace engine since this is a known issue? Please Help.

I live 62 miles one way from my home to work. I bought a Kia Sorento because I heard they were reliable vehicles. I had my sorento for a little over two years. I'm a mechanic for 35 years, have worked at all major dealerships and thought I’d seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in vehicles. I was wrong.

My Sorento has been burning oil since I got the vehicle - 2 to 3 quarts of oil every thousand miles. That’s a tad bit ridiculous for a not even 6 year old vehicle that gets its oil changes done every single time on time. I had my Kia for a while now and from day one, it has been doing this, burning oil. Kia knows there is a problem but they are only replacing certain vehicle engines that is just wrong if Kia does not stand by their product.

I will never ever buy another kia product and I will continue to complain every chance I get. You would think a big company organization like kia would be a stand up company but I guess I was wrong…

I will be filing a class action lawsuit against Kia motors. I Am Done.

Engine recalled and replaced by dealership with the permission of Kia in California. The problem is they don't want to give me a new warranty with the new engine. They are trying to apply the old warranty to the new engine. The car has been returned twice once for the horn not working. Then the second time the MIL came one. I was asked if I put gas in the car and then the light came on. I stated, the light was on when I put gas in the . The dealer is trying to say the car was on when pumping gas or I didn't tighten the gas cap. Neither is true. I started my car the the MIL came BEFORE I WENT TO THE GAS STATION. I WANT A NEW WARRANTY FOR A NEW ENGINE.

My 2014 SORENTO LX FWD AUTO, was driving just fine, until a few days ago. I was at a complete stop (coming off a side road onto a HWY 7 which has a speed limit of 70 MPH), when I accelerated to make my turn onto the HWY my engine started to make the strange grinding/knocking noise and was slow to accelerate. I let off the gas and was going to pull to the side of the road, noise stopped. So I proceeded to accelerate again and no noise but it seemed slow to shift. I continued to drive home, car was fine no noise no smell no sign of any issue no engine lights. Got home, shut off car. A few hours later start car to go to work and smoke starts billowing out of tailpipe. Get out of car to see what it was, no more smoke. Drove to work, no issues. Mentioned problem to husband. We cannot take our car to the KIA dealership in town as my husband is military and this dealership is blacklisted to all military members and family members. I just had a tune-up done last month with an oil change and transmission check, no issues were noted on my service by a local chevy dealership (again we are unable to take it to a KIA dealership due to blacklisting my military). I am concerned that this is the same engine issue that has cause engine failure. I am concerned that due to our being unable to take to it to a KIA dealership for maintenance that KIA will refuse to do anything as I have seen from the complaints.
