When this first started it was intermittent. You would be driving and let off the gas for any reason and then go to put the accelerator back down and you have nothing. Will let off the accelerator and then tried again and it would be fine. Over the course of a couple hours this got exponentially worse. If you turn a corner and start up the hill you almost have 0 acceleration. Several times I would come to a stop light and when the light will turn green I would have zero acceleration. You could put your foot on the gas pedal and put it all the way to the floor it would take 3 to 5 seconds and then would very slowly start accelerating.

I've done a little bit of research on this problem today. Most of the forums I have read place the blame for this on the stop light switch or brake light switch. Several people attribute almost every symptom I'm having to this problem. They have said to take it into the dealership they run a code and wallah! If this was just a random incident it would be one thing. But whereas this seems to be fairly well known and widespread, why is this not something that is being checked on and paid for by Nissan?

I am going to see if I can just change out the stop light switch myself and see if it fixes the problem. I will let you know. But I still say with deep conviction that this kind of thing should be covered under your warranty.! I have been sitting here reading through my warranty coverage and its just as bad as trying to read a bank loan application. Where they mark your coverage, I have the gold preferred 60 month 100,000 miles. But it doesn't tell me anything about what the coverage covers?! So if anyone reading this, if anybody does this, lol, please feel free to email me and I will meet @ gmail.com with your suggestions or assistance. Let me know if you have had to deal with this yourself and how you dealt with it.

Waiting with hope.

  • Automatic transmission

Here we go....I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue with a mileage under 28000. It was driving fine on I95 south for about one and half hour and there was a traffic slow down at the entrance of Delaware Memorial bridge, so I slowed down but then the car won't accelerate when the cars started moving. This went on for 10 or 15 minutes and the car totally stopped, I slowly rolled to the shoulder and called triple A.

Now the dealer said a stone or something flew in and that is what broke the transmission foil cooler and that Nissan warranty will not cover it and it would cost about $700.00. If it wasn't for the slow traffic I would have been hit by one of those big trucks when the car lost acceleration and finally stopped. My question is if this part is vital to the running of the car and ultimately the safety of the driver, how can it be made from a material that any pebble or something similar can break it. I didn't hit or run over any kind object on the road. I95 was clean and very smooth around that area. This has to be some kind of problem with an inferior part or something.

We were having problems with the lack of acceleration on our 2013 Nissan Rogue. We took it to a local Nissan dealer to have the service department look at the problem. At first, they told us that there was not a problem with the vehicle. After a diagnostic test was done, they told us that we needed a new transmission. The cost for the repair was $4000. We contacted Nissan to see if they would replace the transmission since we only had the car for two years. I was told that the warranty had expired and that they would not pay for the repair. I told them that the Rogue has been having problems with their transmissions for many years. They said that they would have paid for it if something serious happened. So I guess someone would have had to be seriously hurt for them to repair our car. Since Nissan is not willing to stand by the quality of their vehicles, we will no longer buy another car from Nissan.

I bought a brand new Nissan Rogue in April / 2013 ( 0 Km). After 2 years and 4 months (134.000 km) the transmission died. After 100,000 Km, I noticed that my car lost power in a split second while driving, it was as like the engine turned off and turned on quickly, like an electrical problem but never blinked the lights or the control panel, no error message or alarm at console.I

n April / 2015 I went to dealer to change the engine oil, transmission oil and check everything because something was not normal. I suggested to review the transmission and they used the scanner technology to check what was happening. They say the transmission is fine, the transmission oil looks good and it should replaced at 140,000 km.

After 3 months on July, 2015 I was traveling from Toronto to Windsor (345 Km) to visit a client and I had to stop my car on the highway by four times because the car lost power and did not allow me to accelerate over 2,000 RPM and the vehicle couldn’t go over 95 or 100 km/h. The temperature at that day was 36 degrees, it was like the car had an automatic system protection to prevent any damage. Every time I stopped and had to wait for about 10 minutes and after that I drove normally 120 or 130 km/h easily until about 40 minutes after the problem came back again.

I never received any warning light or error message on the console, there was no signs of overheating or leakage. After finally reaching Windsor and went to see my client, few hours after the car began to work well. I concerned about my car called Nissan and visited to Dealer at Windsor (next day) to check what was the problem. I told them it could be a temperature problem because that happen only in the day and more than 35 degrees. The technician told me that I need to change the transmission. How it is possible because now the car is working fine?.

I return to Toronto in the night thinking "my car will be fail in the route" but not. Next day I went to other dealer to check the transmission and at this time the result of the scanner show us the error code P0868, indicating that "the solenoid Valve B" in the transmission was malfunctioning, disconnected or was damaged. This Solenoid control the pressure of oil in the transmission. I visited 3 Dealers and the only solution for them was to change the transmission (5,000 Canadian dollars without labor). They don't fix CVT transmission.

This is incredible and is not acceptable because the car has only 2 years 4 months, Nissan know about this problem on CVT Transmission and they are not doing nothing about this issue. Reviewing the story I found the same problem in the 2008 Nissan Rogue. They are helping customers with extended warranty. This is not fair because that the danger of this problem is for everyone. After few days the transmission died. I was at traffic light and I cannot move my car. If that happen driving at Highway could cause a serious accident.

I had to replace the transmission. I am very upset about Nissan. I cannot recommend this car and this brand to someone else.

  • CVT transmission

On a road trip up north, cruise control set and then cruise control clicked itself off and the acceleration started dropping. Floored the gas pedal and would not go faster then 45 miles. Recently bought the vehicle and had not even had it 4 months yet and when we pulled off the next exit called the dealership they stated that since I was out of town they couldn't help me to contact nearest dealership.

Took it to the Nissan dealership in town and was told that the Transmission had gone out and it needed to be replaced however they wouldn't have the part until that following Monday or Tuesday...mind you I was OUT OF TOWN. So the car would not make it home I had no choice but to leave it but that dealership did offer me a rental knowing I would be driving home more then 400 miles away. Only problem was had to return to pick it up the following week. I mean the dealership out of town was awesome how they handled the situation however the pure inconvenience that I had JUST purchased the car not even 4 months ago and already the transmission fails and needs to be replaced.

HIGHLY DISSATISFIED. I don't think I will ever buy another NISSAN again.

Rogue Special

  • Automatic transmission
  • 76,000 miles

When we take the vechicle on long road trips, after a few hours of driving the car will not accelerate over 50 MPH. We will have the car floored and have to get in the slow lane as cars are passing us. We did stop the last time it happened when the car cooled down we were able to finish our trip at regular speeds. Took the car in and they said we need CVT transmission flush $229 for the repair. As I read online I notice this has been a problem with Nissan Rogue's since 2010

Rogue L 2.4L L4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

With the cruise control set at 85 miles per hour the vehicle all of a sudden was taking off cruise control by itself and would not reset preset cruise control. Vehicle failed to accelerate even with accelerator pedal all the way down to the floor it stayed that way for approximately 45 to 55 minutes until we stopped and let the car sit for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Nissan dealership did not resolve the issue and is failing to acknowledge that there is a problem with the vehicle.
