CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012-2017 Nissan Versa has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

I have been experiencing this brakes problem since 2013 when I purchased my car. I made several complaints to the dealer in Trinidad ever year since purchasing, informing them of the brakes and the wheel was making a clicking sound which caused a burning smell.

Every time I went to service the vehicle I was met with different problems, the service department kept writing it up and I was charged for different things that pertained to the same problems in that I was not charged for the brakes but I was charged for everything relating to the brakes.

This kept on going until June this year I have all my records and history and hard copy to back up what I am explaining. The problem finally ended on July 9th when my husband tried mashing for brakes and he got none which caused him to dodge a hole and hit aw the company is showing no remorse because they are not willing to stand liability for what has occurred or not even gracious enough to lend me a courtesy vehicle while my vehicle is down.

I am in the process of seeking legal advise because I understand a lot of Versas were recalled and if the dealer was doing a proper job mine should have been called back also and my situation redressed before it got this far.

When pressing brakes, you would hear a knocking noise coming from both sides in front of the vehicle. The noise does not occur everything. It is something on and off. Apparently, the noise is from the headlight motors. It seems as if the sensors were bad so when the brakes was pressed, it caused the headlights to move up and down causing it to make a knocking noise.

This problem first occurred after my 60,000 KM service. The technicians were incompetent. They changed the calipers and disc pads. However, the problem still existed. After I did come research, I realized that the noise was from the headlight motor. The dealer changed the inhibitor switch. However, I am still hearing the noise. The technician said that this is a problem in Versa's, but after the switch was changed, the problem was resolved. Not sure why I am still hearing the noise.

This problem started when the car was in warranty. The warranty ended on 30th October. The dealership changed the wrong part first (calipers). When they changed the inhibitor, I had to pay. They said that they already used the calipers as warranty and now the vehicle is out of warranty so they have to charge me but will give me a discount. It is not my fault that they made a wrong diagnosis and changed the wrong part. This is a problem that existed when the car was in warranty, therefore the inhibitor should of been covered by them.

The problem still exists. When pressing brakes, you would still hear the noise.

Please advise. I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Thanks.

the computer shut down while moving and the brakes defected

I would like to say how displeased I am with Nissan and Lokey of Clearwater. They have treated me with annoyance and denial. They don't care for my wellfare. I wanted a new car or my money back but they refused. So next time a week later I was driving going 50 miles an hour and the brakes were very soft and hardly worked. I had to avoid a major collision. They said that they were going to fix the problem and they replaced the master cylinder. Now I am still driving this car with no choice. Ifeel very unsafe driving this brand new car.
