In May 2005 the power window for the driver's door on my 2000 Xterra (4WD-V6) began to only go up intermittently (no problem going down). Now the driver's window will not go up at all. The other three windows (passenger and rear) are also beginning to exhibit intermittent and slow movement in the upward direction. A test of the controller and motor indicate the components are receiving power. As I understand it, other Nissan models (Altima & pathfinder) and 01-02 Xterra with similar components have the same problem and have been recalled.
The contact experienced several problems with vehicle. First problem concerned power steering. The steering wheel was hard to turn. This was accompanied by a grinding noise. The dashboard panel lights did not illuminate. They simply stopped working without any prior warning. There was technical service bulletin 10001332 concerning the electrical system. In addition, the power window on the driver's side was difficult to close. In order to get the window to automatically roll up it must be manually assisted. The vehicle has not been seen by a dealer.
After less than three years of owning the car the driver's side window just stopped going down one day. The service dept. At my local Nissan dealer said he thought there'd been a recall, but Nissan said there was none. This is the third major thing I've had to have replaced that was later a recall. They need to take care of this.
I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra that I have had no complaints about since I purchased it in August of 2001. My wife and I currently rolled 55,000 on the odometer. Last week when I got into my truck after a long day at the office my driver side window would not roll down. Due to the warm weather I leave my windows half way. It rolled up fine however would not go down. Today while researching "how to take off my door panels". I came across dozens of complaints with people all over the us experiencing the same problems. Some people have had to replace all 4 of the window regulators before their warranty has expired. I want to know if Nissan is going to take any action on this and send out a recall to help out the people who truly believe they purchased a good reliable vehicle for their family. I dont think I need to spend another $400 on something that they should have made right in the first place. Thank you.

Windows fell into the door as I was opening it. From what I read this is a common problem with Nissan vehicles power windows regulators. This could cause an accident because it could scare a driver into thinking their window exploded.
