Camry EX 2.2L

Car was running good. Decided to pressure wash engine, now it runs rough at idle and when running, misfiring and a code 24 came up.

Update from Aug 9, 2018: pulled each spark plug wire and found 2 wires were arcing through the plug wires- where they connect to plug , (the long plastic part onto the tube), they are only 6 months old- I would suggest buying good plug wires.

just cause they are new don't mean they are good.

Camry LE 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,000 miles

Hello, I have an issue with my 94 camry 2.2L. I Got this car given to me because it was being junked. I like to work on cars so I took on the challenge. Originally it was an overheating problem, radiator leaking thermostat sticking and the spark plug wires were destroyed by the heat. I changed out the plug wires, radiator, radiator hoses, spark plugs and I tore the top half of the engine apart to get the head machined and the head gasket changed out. It is all back together now and all the overheating and white smoke from the tailpipe problems are resolved, except one problem. There is a rough idle and dies out when i take off up to about 10 or 15 miles per hour. I took the ICV valve out to clean it but it looks fine could it be the EGR valve or is there some vacuum that I need to address? The injectors in the car are all cleaned and working properly and so is the fuel rail. Any ideas?

Camry LX 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

I own a 1994 Toyota Camry about a month now. I purchase this car for only $2.000 dollars in mint condition. It has only 59000 miles ! To do preventive maintenance. I had a timing belt and water pump installed which cost me $ 800.00 dollars. But I always seen to have this ROUGH IDOL which is so annoying. But only in gear. So I had the Toyota dealership worked on it. They told me that the plugs were shot, also my throttle body needed a complete cleaning and also the air intake system because the plugs were worn and had oil on them. The costs would be $ 300.00 dollars. I ask him: Now, are you sure thats the problem ? I don't need to spend $ 300.00 dollars and drive off with the same problem. He was sure of himself that this was the problem. It did not need spark park wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor. So they went ahead with it.. I drove off and I STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, ROUGH IDOL !! I called back and told him I still have the same problem ! He than said the computer has to relearn the new settings so give it a few weeks. I informed him thats not what you said and that the problem would be resolved. So, I called the service manager that next day and wanted me to stop by. He looked at it, did some test and said: There is nothing wrong with this car its great !! Even with all that rough idling. He also said Toyota Camrys had problems with this kind of problem and no solutions. Now thats nice why wasn't I told this before I spent $300.00 dollars I told him. According to him I needed all this done which was find but it did not fix my problem. Can you believe this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
