My car is painted Super White; it's a single stage color/clear in one like you get at Maaco for a couple hundred bucks; not the greatest quality. The 2nd gen Tundra has numerous issues with this paint too. In my case the paint turns hazy and yellow. First time it happened was on my right rear quarter. It was weird, as the thickness of the paint had not changed but it clearly appeared to be yellow, and dull/hazy compared to the white paint. The dealer fixed it under warranty 6 months ago, everything is good.

Recently I found the same problem on the right front door. This time I'm upset as it's occurring again after being assured the first instance was a fluke. After pushing the dealer and Toyota to investigate, the best Toyota can say is they know it's a defect from the factory but don't know why it's happening. Despite this they won't fix anything beyond the spots as they appear while under warranty or extend my warranty coverage! Checking the car with a paint meter suggests this is the factory paint in terms of thickness/consistency, and that it was also fixed on at least one other panel that has no signs of collision repair and has all proper factory markings.

So while I got lucky and caught this before the warranty ran out, looks like future repairs are all on me at $600 or so a piece to have it fixed properly. Toyota knows it has a factory defect, which I have in writing, but can't figure out why and won't back it with an extension of the warranty or complete refinish of the car to eliminate the problem. I get modern water paints are not as durable as the older paints but Toyota just is not interested in standing behind their product.

First, it's my 3rd Toyota Camry. I bought it in September 2012 and 2 months later I already noticed problems with the painting. It chips really really easily at the moment little dust or rocks hit the front. As soon as the winter came, thin hairline started to show at the bottom of the front and back of the car. The plastic it is made of is extremely thin as well as the painting. Now, with 18 000km I have more than 100 spots of removed paint. I take great care of the car and I only drive nearby and once in a while take the highway. I never go on none paved road. My previous camry that was 8 years old showed 50% less marks. I am very disappointed. My husband who owns a Honda Civic 2012 and is always on the road (45 0000km/year) barely has 10 spots. I would prefer pay 2000$ more and have something of better quality because this would be the cost to change the front and back and I'm sure this will have to be done in 5 years.

I purchased this new 2012 Camry in March of 2012 and am very disappointed with it. I've had it in for a loud dinging noise coming from the front brakes when backing it up and applying the brakes. Also the transmission has made a huge crunch two times after I started it and put it in Drive. The next thing I've noticed is the poor quality of the paint on this car! At least 6 small chips on the front of the hood already. I take extremely good care of my cars and this car has the poorest quality of paint then any that I've ever owned in the past.

I also found a couple spots where there was bird poop on the hood. I know better to not use anything like a strong polish or cleaner wax on a spot like this. After washing it off and mildly applying a synthetic polymer sealant that I've used for years I see that the clear coat has faded away! Along with this I've had to return it to the dealer 3 times due to the low tire pressure light coming on. They replaced the valve stem once, then the sensor the 2nd time, then they found a pin hole leak on my 3rd visit. One of the dashboard air vent shields kept popping off the dash so I put some super glue on it and snapped it back in. Then the passenger seat belt kept rattling when I was driving it alone. I tapped on the side of the seat and noticed it wasn't tight so I got under it and torqued down the bolts into the floorboards. Another negative is the poor handing. I thought an SE would be more stable then an LE. It leans over when turning corners off highway exits and its the worst car I've ever owned when driving on slick roads in the winter. The only thing I would recommend when it comes to Toyota is their reliable engines and transmissions. Other then that I will be getting rid of this asap and will never ever purchase another Toyota.

The paint job is horrible.I have tried to contact the dealer I purchased my Camry from, but each time I call they tell me I have to speak to someone else. They send me to this "someone else" who never answers the phone or returns my messages. The one time I did get to talk to a real person, who told me I had to talk to someone else, after I explained the problem. He tried to tell me I had ran my car through some type of chemical that was causing the paint to bubble up and peel off. I told him that was not possible. He continued to argue with me, and I ask him if that was the case, why was if just on certain areas of the car, that is when he told me I had to contact someone else. Well guess what, I still have not been able to speak with this person and this has been going on for almost 6 months. I thought Toyota was a better dealer than this. I spend my hard earned money to pay for this car and the least they could do is make their mistake right. There is alot of competition out there and you would think Toyota would try to make things right, especially after all the negative press they have received concerning their cars. I wonder if there are other Toyota owners out there who are having the same problem.
