I just purchased my 2005 Corolla 3 months prior to this incident and it was a fairly new car but it had the check engine light on with in the first month I had it. On the day of the incident the weather nice and pleasant & I was soberly driving home from nursing school in san jose along in the middle lane of a 3 lane street at the legal speed limit of 35 miles an hour. About 600 feet ahead there was a yellowing stoplight and two cars slowing down nearing the stoplight. I put on the brakes normally as I thought there was plenty of space to come to a stop however it felt like instead of slowing the car suprisingly sped up and instantly I was smelling gunpowder after a sharp painful jarring smack. The airbags had deployed and was a ripped up mess from my steering wheel. I hit the car in front of me and was so dazed and shocked and my wrist had shattered requiring reparative surgery and rehabilitation however it's still not ok. Due to my confusion I denied medical treatment until a few days later. This confusion still affects me badly now as I suffer from severe ptsd. The police took pictures and a report. The people in the car I hit were taken by ambulance. & recommended I be taken as well but I refused. The car had been totaled with severe body damage to the front and a bent frame that it was able to drive from the scene. I was terrified that somebody either tampered with my car and brakes or either I was clinically insane to make it illogically speed up & it wasn't until I learned of the recalls only a few days ago that I realized maybe the accident wasn't all my fault & I should report it here. Toyota corporation has done nothing to send me notifications of any recalls or problems ever.

My daughter was driving South at 60mph. Second car, going North, attempted to make a left turn on to side road directly in front of me. Barely had time to apply brakes before impact with his right rear. My daughter's car had extensive front end damage. Police were called. Other driver cited. Insurance company said car totaled. Not a single air bag inflated, in spite of front end impact. I reported all of this to Toyota and sent them pictures of the car but they seemed uninterested.

.. to whom it may concern. A relative of mine received a recall letter on my behalf from Toyota for my vehicle. My relative said he sent it to me by mail. I contacted Toyota really concerned because out of nowhere my air bag light came on, my cruise control stopped working and horn. I have had a recall before which was serviced in August of 2011. I decided to contact Toyota about the letter and if it was okay to take in car without letter. They ran my VIN# and stated that the recall for my car has been serviced. I asked why I received a letter of recall and why out of nowhere my car is starting to have some malfunctions that can be a risk to my life. I no longer feel safe in this vehicle. The rep at Toyota said to go in to service center-but I do not have the money to pay out of pocket. I need help and would like this resolved for the safety of my family and my vehicle.

We were East-bound on a residential street when a West-bound vehicle made a left turn immediately in front of us, across our lane. I brake, but collided with the side of the vehicle. The other driver was unhurt and his vehicle was still drivable. Our airbags deployed. My wife, who is 63 inches, 110 lbs, had her ribs cracked by the force of the airbag hitting her in the chest. Her seat was locked in the upright position at maximum distance from the airbag; her seatbelt was on and properly worn. She was not holding anything in her hands or on her lap. The speed of the impact was low enough that neither of us even suffered serious bruising from the seatbelts. The airbag was the sole source of her physical injuries resulting from the accident.

My husband bought my 2005 Corolla as a wedding gift. It was slightly used but bought from one of the best Toyota dealerships in our town. It had approx. 18000 miles when I got T in Feb of 2007. It was very basic and a standard. The shifting/clutch never seemed right from the start but I learned how to deal with it. In Feb of 2010, I was leaving work and was a few miles from home. I had never in my many years of driving had a wreck. The truck ahead of me came to an abrupt stop and as I tried to brake, my car seemed to speed up and went right up under the truck. The whole front end smashed right up to the windshield yet the airbag did not deploy. Insurance deemed it a total loss but it was right at the point where I still owed as much as the pay off so they went ahead and fixed it. I was out a lot of money. The second wreck just occurred on March 15,2013. I was driving home from a family members residence in the country and was traveling on deserted roads at about 3:30 am. I went around an S curve that I grew up driving so it I was very familiar. I tried to slow down, but again seemed to accelerate. I over corrected and ran thru a ditch and completely threw a metal fence. Again. The airbag, which always had the light on as if ready to deploy, did not go off. I was hurt very badly and apparently blacked out for a good while. This time the insurance deemed it a total loss and we are waiting on a settlement from our insurance plus I hurt my knee and am meeting with a surgeon next week. That car was nothing but trouble and I am happy to B rid of it but feel we all deserve justice for all the many errors Toyota has given this vehicle.

We had an automobile accident on August 30, 2012 in bayamon, puerto rico between 11:15 to 11:30 pm. We received a first impact on the left back door of the car and another in the front (bumper) of the car, because the car impact made it go round and impact a fence. Unfortunately, the airbags never opened, so we received injuries. Updated IVOQ 11/21/12

I was driving 30 mph when the vehicle in front of me, going 30 mph as well, suddenly switches onto the left lane without using their turning signals in effort to avoid the parked car in front of them, leaving me little time to brake before crashing into the car. I drive a Toyota Corolla 2005 and the hood was completely bent forward along with the front sides making it hard to open the front doors, cracked head lights, bumper slightly detached, and a broken radiator. The air bags did not launch at all even though the impact required it. I was driving with a passenger who hurt their knee and I'm dealing with neck and back problems.

On November 12, 2009, my passenger and I were rear-ended at approximately 35 mph when we were stopped, waiting for someone to make a left. The airbag warning said that the airbags deployed, but they didn't and the airbag warning had to be re-calibrated to work properly. On November, 24, 2010, we were stopped, and rear-ended, and the same thing happened. On September 20, 2011, a lady stopped very suddenly in front of me. I could not stop quick enough, and rear-ended her. I was the only person in my Corolla ce. The car was totaled, and there was enough force that a back seat popped down without me releasing it (it's a pop-down back seat from the trunk). Yet, no airbags deployed. I had a headache for three days, my neck and shoulders still hurt, and my left thigh is still tender. When I paid for the vehicle and subsequent repairs, all parts should have worked including the airbags. That I am writing to you is by G-D's grace, not Toyota's. I think there should have been a massive recall, and I was never informed, but I know that there was one from searching the internet.
