very loud intermittent noise when braking. mechanic discovered badly seized brake sensors due to unusual amount of rust. while fixing the problem he discovered that the "ring" (my word) on the axle was broken, also due to much rust. this car is in a heated garage and washed. just typical road driving. will have mechanic keep parts and will ask toyota for some relief from what i assume will be a large bill. thank goodness for my excellent mechanic. i would hate to be driving a car with dangerous brakes and damage to the axles. this not only is a big expense, but a real safety issue.
