The crank pulley problem was significant enough that Toyota recalled 2004-2006 V6 Highlanders, plus some other cars. However, our car "missed the cutoff", so despite being a 2004, the recall did not apply to us- even though our car had the exact same problem as all cars that were recalled. When calling Toyota all they say is "It was determined that cars manufactured before a certain date did not have this problem". Determined by whom? Determined by the people at Toyota who don't want to pay for their mistakes!
