I was so shocked when I noticed the chrome cap of one of my wife's lugs missing. This is not something I knew could happen. It looked like it had been installed with super glue and not welded or molded. This is ridiculous. I am only posting this now (with a guessed at date and mileage) since I noticed from other posts. I ended up using one of the 4 lugs displaced by the locking lug set.

Second time the lug nuts fell apart. I have never had a lug nut cap fall apart on any car I have ever owned. This is a quality issue that Toyota needs to fix.

Another lug nut cap fell off, this time on the RF wheel of the vehicle. Three months ago, the same thing happened on the LF wheel. Like the first incident in September, I replaced the lug nut with PN 90084-94001. The part had to be replaced quickly since snow and road salt will ruin the exposed stud.

At this point I will order ten lug nuts online to save about 60% on the cost of parts. I bought the first two at my local dealer out of urgency, but this seems to be an ongoing thing. I will wait until ten of these fall off and send them to Toyota corporate with copies of all receipts, and request reimbursement.

lug nut cap fell apart

I was cleaning the wheels one afternoon and discovered the cap to the lug nut fell off. While the lug nut is still fully functional, this is something that should not happen on any vehicle. Had I not caught this problem, it would have corroded the stud and I would have to replace the stud inside the wheel carrier/hub.

I went to the dealer and bought one piece of 90084-94001...problem resolved.
