CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

Electrical power steering not working (see receipt below) 8/11/2017: Case # [xxx] for: $1784 March 30 2012 -build date Ford recall 15S18 although my car was excluded from the recall 15S18, my car did same thing that recall stated: The steering wheel locked up while driving at night alone in houston and was put in extreme harm bc it stopped completely on hwy 1314 and would not move. Also, my car meets all the requirements to the recall and is only excluded because it was built only 2 weeks outside of the recall time frame. Because I experienced the exact description listed in recall and because my car meets all the necessary requirements of vehicles included that Ford recalled (except that was built only 2 weeks outside of the date), I request remedy of reimbursement for my vehicle repair and damages. (I was without car for 2 weeks and unable to work and I am a single mom in school with no help from Ford). I had to put the cost on my credit card and unable to pay, so I need the interest cost of credit card as well.). thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I own a 2012 Ford Fusion SE 6 cylinder this vehicle has a major safety hazard. My passenger side rtail light continues to blow and the most recent incident occurred last week when I noticed a burning smell. I have been replacing this tail light every six months for the past two years and it has caused melting around the light socket and the bulb is clearly burnt. After googling this issue I have seen numerous complaints about the same issue with the 2012 Ford Fusion and a recall needs to be issued immediately or I am going to the public. This can kill someone and start a fire especially if the blaze gets out of hand and children are in the backseat strapped in. Please email me [xxx] regarding if you are having a similar concern so I can compile this and go public because they have received several complaints and not done anything to remedy this issue. This is clearly an electrical issue and Ford and the nthsa need to step it up and save lives before it's too late. I have been having electrical problems since I purchased the car in 2012. Currently, my horn does not work as well as other electrical components of my car. Another example, would be my seat belt, which has been an ongoing issue.the service provider at Ford told me to let my car run a little, . and then it would work. So far, still having the same issue. At this time, with my horn not working, it is a safety issue, as I have almost gotten into 3 accidents thus far, I have contacted the Ford CEO and karen johnson, another executive of Ford and have not heard anything from either one of them. I need my car fixed as all these issues are safety related and each day that I drive with the concerns, put myself and my family in danger.

Vehicle was stationary when power steering went out and advance trac. Dealership fails to acknowledge why they advise a new power steering rack and new control arms. Was told control arms are seizing up putting too much stress on the power steering and shortening it out. Why not perform the recall work first to see if it fixes it rather than propose almost $4,000 worth of repairs? the recall I'm referring to is 15V340 and 15S18

If my car sits for more than three days, the battery is dead. I've taken it into the dealer multiple times (at least 5 or more times, now I just live with the problem, since it's no longer under warranty). The Ford dealership said they couldn't find any issues. All they did, is recharge the battery a few times and eventually, replaced the battery. Even with the newer battery, it still has the same problem: Dead battery after three days. If I charge the battery up to 100%, twenty-four hours later, the % rate has dropped about 35%, down to level of 65-67%. it's down this since I bought the car when it was new.

Power steering assist fault came up last night out of nowhere when I went to drive home at night in the rain. I was stationary when it came on and its happened once before but I turned my car off then back on and it went back to normal. This time I tried the same thing but it never cleared itself and I'm currently driving it with no power steering because I needed to go to work. Very dangerous and a major inconvenience.

When driving my 2012 Ford Fusion sel AWD, the power steering will (at random) cease to function and causes extreme difficulty in steering. It is nearly impossible to pull over safely. At speed this is an extremely dangerous and terrifying event. The lights for the traction control system, the power steering system, and occasionally the advance trac system come on. It is not always all of the lights all of the time, and the errors vary. I have had it looked at and the codes read, and the problem persists. I need this fixed as I have two small children that I refuse to allow to ride in the car as I'm afraid for their safety. It strands me at random at work and at school an hour from home as well. Upon cranking the lights for power steering failures come on and I have to sit and wait on a ride. This is unacceptable. Someone needs to fix this problem as every time I have called multiple Ford dealerships, they give me a runaround explaining there is no recall for this issue. This is unacceptable because the internet is rife with posters have the same exact issues I am having and are having no assistance either from Ford. Please help us with this problem, as I cannot afford to purchase a new car after this one has drained me of my resources.
