CarComplaints.com Notes: In many ways, the 2012 Cruze continues the legacy of its predecessor. It's a legacy of sluggish transmissions and coolant leaks, but it's still a legacy.

To be fair, the number of complaints about the cooling system are way down versus the 2011 model which led to a class-action lawsuit.

On the flip-side, there's more concerns about brake problems.

However, there were far more Cruze vehicles sold for the 2012 model year so we'll give it our "Beware of this Clunker" badge rather than the "Avoid Like the Plague."

I have had my used / "certified" Chevy Cruze for a year and a half and now out of the blue today, with NO warning while driving to work, I turn on my A/C and right after my dash board starts dinging poping up "Servive Power Steering", loosing power, I can not accelorate so i pull it over & turn off the car. I go to start the car, I get the same dinging and service message and the car will Not start but there is a loud ticking under the hood. when I lift the hood , the ticking is coming from the large rectangular fuse box on the right side. I had it towed to the Gorden Dealer in Garden City where i bought the car from and had to leave it there. From reading complaints on this car , the same year as mine, there are a crazy amount of same complaints with poor or no resalution. We will see if I have any better luck.

I was driving home from work in bad weather Feb 12,2016 on interstate. Icy roads and snow. Was driving 50 mph and suddenly lost power and engine light came on followed by traction control light saying service each. Was able pull off interstate barely on close exit. Turned off key and same problem when re-started; waited 10 min and car started and was able drive home. Car is 2012 with 50k miles. Could have easily wrecked or died, screw Chevy period!!!!!!!!
