Transmission started going out but no lights ever came on regarding the issue. Took the car in for an oil change and told them about the issue. The advisor originally suggested a transmission flush but once they actually looked at it, realized it would need a rebuild. 2 weeks later I picked it up, only to take it right back as the problem was not fixed. They got approval to replace with a new one. Unfortunately took 2 new transmissions being shipped in before it was "fixed".

I took it in Friday before Memorial day, and finally got it back in late July. I have taken it back multiple times as it still does not feel like its resolved but the dealership has an excuse every time and assures me its fine. It didn't have a squeal or a rattle to it prior to this but it sure does now. The squeal was repaired as a separate issue that resulted in even more issues. Now I'm left with a car that has less than 36k miles, an extended warranty, and yet no one will actually fix it. Feels like I got screwed over.

Equinox LTZ 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

Transmission failed. First and reverse gears would not work. Pushed the car to about 5 mph and the second gear took over but would not work if I had to stop. This happened in a snow storm in the mountains of Colorado. I managed to get a tow truck that towed to the nearest town of about 8000 people. Mechanic there found a Chevy crate transmission with 100,000 mile warranty and installed it over about two weeks. Chevy refused to talk to me because I did not have the car towed to a Chevy dealer close to 50 miles away down a mountain in the ice and snow. Thinking of buying a Volkswagen…..
