This drives me nuts about this car. You get in and turn the key and the ignition just keeps turning over (or it'll start and stall right away). I found the fastest/best way to start the car is to turn the key to the "ON" position, let the fuel pump do its thing and wait until the car does its system check then start it. This is definitely annoying. I took the car to the garage and complained that the car struggles to start and the salesman says, "Oh, that's a common thing with GM cars. I had the same problem with my Oldsmobile"....Really? GM, get your act together!

y ignition locked up due to a worn out spare key I had to use so I had it towed to the dealership because I thought it may have been part of a recent key recall they told me about through the mail. It took them 4 days to call me back and tell me the cost would be $1002.00 to replace cylinder and $80.00 for a new key. I then called GM customer service and asked them to speak with a superior adviser at this point and they told me one would call me within 24hours... 2 more days went by and they never returned my call.

I then called the mechanic tech back who gave me the outrageous price to fix my car and asked him what did he do for the recall..? He says that he made a copy of the worn out key that had locked up my car's ignition in the first place and I asked him to make a new key for me and see if that worked. He told me that he didn't think it would work and I said well go ahead and make me a new key because I would need a new one regardless because I had lost my main key and that is the reason I was using my spare, He says OK, we hang up the phone and he calls me right back and says his tech says that making a new key will not work because something is jammed in my ignition and told me it looked like someone tried to break into my car.. I said well just make me a new key and try it anyways I will need one just like I already told you, I had lost mine, and after his second attempt to get out of making me a new key, didn't work. He said he would but it would cost me $25.00 to make the key and $55.00 to program the key and even though my car doesn't have a chip in it or has never had to be programmed before. I still said OK make me a new key.

He calls me back the next morning now telling me the recall comes with 2 keys and the one I had sent when I had the car towed to Bob Howard Chevy was not a working key when the key has worked plenty of times before. Matter of fact that's the only key I had to my car at one point, but he still said that the new key he made doesn't work and that I can try it for my self If come up there.... So I did and me and a manager walked out to the parking lot of Bob Howard Chevy together to look at my car, he unlocked my door with the new key, and I sat in the driver's seat, look at my ignition key hole and it looked like someone had taken a hammer and a flat head screwdriver and banged on it till there was no silver at all left on the key slot for the ignition left. I looked right at the manager and said this is not how my car was before I had it towed to him and he just kept saying that his technician would never do work like this.. His technician, Henry Whitaker, had been there for 20 years, he claimed, but didn't seem like he knew what he was talking about with the recall or pricing to me at all. I told them that I would call GM customer service back and I will go about dealing with my car after I spoke with customer service.

After I tried calling customer service two more times I finally got a hold of a senior adviser, told him the story and what I'm going through with Bob Howard Chevy, he tried calling the dealership with me on the phone and they didn't answer and he said he would personally call me back. Today is now day 6 without my car and there has been no call back and no solution to my ignition problem of something you would think would be simple and not $1082.00 for a simple key and ignition problem. I feel like my car was broke into, but not by a burglar, by a Chevy technician who is now trying to break into my wallet too.

I have bought 2 Chevy and convinced my mother to get a 09 Pontiac GM car and never knew that this is the kind of service you get in return. Never again will I take one of my cars to a Chevy dealer, I'd rather let a crack head bum work on my car rather than a Chevy dealer because they would be cheaper and probably know more about the Chevy company than the owner and all the mechanics at Bob Howard Chevy combined and do a better job than they have ever done on my car.

Ignition switch literally came apart. Pieces of the tumbler mechanism were all over the floor. Worst part was it failed when the power windows were down so I could not raise the windows. Had to have the car towed on a flatbed hauler to get it repaired.

An ignition switch SHOULD last for the life of the vehicle. I am SO DONE with GM cars!
