Impala LT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission

Transmission intermittently slips from stop, engine revs up, then slams into first gear. Transmission doesn't slip in any other gear.

I took the car to Chevrolet dealer last year. No codes in the computer, and the problem didn't happen during their test drive. Last month, took the car to independent transmission shop. They had it for three days, and drove it 45 minutes without it happening. I picked up the car, and the transmission slammed into gear three times on the way home. So frustrating.

It could cause an accident if I were to pull out into traffic if the transmission doesn't engage. Our son drove it recently. He wasn't used to the feel of the throttle when the transmission doesn't engage. When it finally slipped into the gear, the front wheels chirped. So annoying.

Impala LS 3.6L V6

Every now and then when I apply the gas, the engine revs up but the car doesn't go anywhere so I take me foot off the gas pedal and reapply lightly. Then suddenly, it will jerk forward and move.

Impala LS 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 93,000 miles

Intermittent problem with transmission slamming into gear from a stop position or going from reverse to drive . This seems to happen most often when their is a lot of moisture.

This has happened frequently since car was purchased in 2009. Brought to dealer 3 times while under warranty, dealer said they could not find problem even when they drove in the vehicle with me while it was happening. I was told that their diagnostics did not detect any issues.
