I work for a county in central Kansas. The sheriff dept. has had Impala as its main vehicle. Starting with their 08 thru 2012 the alt has been boiling batteries and charging at 14.98 volts. The local dealer has said there is nothing wrong, they say it is not overcharging till it reaches 15.5 volts.
We sold the 08 and took off all the lights and components and it went back to 13.4. Before we took everything off we shut off and it did not drop. Now the 2012 is doing the same we are on third battery, is there another external hotspot on vehicle. Ford did this on their 2014 that we took possession of, we have the same issues with them and found out they had an extra outlet in trunk.
