I have observed all 1999 Malibus have the same problem. The rust starts on the passenger back panel under the gas cap and spread over the panel. At first, I thought it was just my car, until I started to notice that all 1999 Malibus have the same problem, therefore, this must be a factory defect.

This model and year for the Malibu was terrible and should be recall to replace the back passenger panel. Owner should not have to repair this problem due to the manufacterer problem. For owners who have had the problem fix should be reimbursed.

Malibu LS 5.3L V8

I have a 1999 Silverado extended cab, maroon in color. The body is rusting in several different areas. This includes the box bed, left and right rear wheel wells, cab corner on the drivers side, and also above the wind shield. The truck is almost 10 years old, but their are alot older trucks on the road with less rust than mine. I have noticed that some Silverados in that age range have extensive rusting, while others do not. I have an estimate from a local body shop and he says he will cut out the rust, weld in patch panels and repaint the affected areas for about $1000.
